The astrotrac wedge is small and solid. It fits on my Manfrotto tripod and the astrotrac is attached to it with three screws. I upgraded to the wedge when I started using a small telescope on the astrotrac. Once the wedge is adjusted and set in position it is very firm.
The azimuth has two screws to adjust it (left and right) and then three screws to lock down the "turntable" part of the wedge. The altitude has one screw and relies on the weight of the equipment to move the wedge down as you loosen it. The altitude is locked by a plastic lever from one side... this has the effect of shifting the azimuth as you tighten it, so final adjustment to achieve polar alignment tends to be an iterative process. The metal knobs get cold in Winter and can be hard to grip with frozen fingers.
The wedge is small, solid and very well made. Very glad I bought it.
