The Vixen SLV 15mm I use for DSO

The 6 mm SLV has given me some memorable views in a small refractor. The small field of view feels quite nostalic to me, nothing like the new-fangled wide angles. It's a great eyepiece for doubles or planets. It's a pleasure to use an eyepiece that is optically second to none, for not too much money!

Paired with a good quality telescope this is a first rate eyepiece. Excellent eye relief, flat field and no apparent chromatic aberration. A joy to use.

Recently purchased the Vixen slv 4mm and 6mm eyepieces. These eyepieces are so comfortable to use with there 20mm eye relief and twist up eyecups. With other 4mm eyepieces I have struggled to get a comfortable view because of there lesser eye relief. The eyepieces are sharp and a pleasure to use. As usual FLO were excellent with there advice and delivery speed.

Sensational EP to use, clear and sharp flat over the entire field of my 150 Mak ( 450x in this) and 130 Apo . A revelation..I thought the images would break down... But they didnt on the Planets..Mars Syrtis Major and polar shroud clearly visible at only 10 arc seconds.
Use this ahead of my Tak abbes 90 perc of the time..soo comfy on the eye too.

This eyepiece feels well-made, solidly constructed, and comfortable to use with generous eye relief, however I feel that it is let down by being quite bulky and heavy for such a small FOV. In fact the apparent field of view appears somewhat smaller than the stated 50 degrees, probably nearer to 45 degrees, and significantly smaller than that of traditional 50 degree Plossls.

A great looking eyepiece with 20mm eye relief, a twist up eyecup and Ortho performance what more could one ask for ??

The contrast and clarity are superb, I could detect no light scatter or distortion right across the FOV.
In addition to razor sharp views the eyepieces are very well put together and feel great in the hand.

As an indication of just how good the SLV range are I have replaced my very expensive set of eyepieces and have experienced no regrets whatsoever.
