About this product
Model: cel_wedge_93665
Part Number: 93665-CGL
Re-engineered from the ground up, this new wedge is specifically designed for the Celestron Evolution and Celestron SE series telescopes with 6" and 8" apertures.
The Evolution and SE mounts use Alt-Az tracking to keep objects centred. This is okay for short exposures, but longer exposures will reveal field rotation. Using a wedge enables the mount to track equatorially, which does not create field rotation.
Weight is kept to a minimum without sacrificing the rigidity necessary for long-exposure astrophotos.
You can also introduce an autoguider to enable even longer exposures and minimise tracking errors when using a wedge.
WEDGE FEATURES
- Equatorial wedge for Celestron Evolution and Celestron SE series with 6" and 8" apertures.
- Enables long exposure astrophotography and autoguiding by tilting the telescope’s azimuth into an equatorial platform, allowing it to track an arc around the polar axis.
- For beginner to intermediate planetary and deep space imagers.
- Captive hardware, tool-less operation, easily adjusts under load.
- All new, hefty, yet portable design.
- Sturdy latitude adjustment screw with easy-to-read scale and integrated Bubble level.

PRODUCT: Wedge comes in secure packing. Instruction manual guides through assembling and mounting step by step. All necessary tools are included. Quality and stability are excellent.
ATTENTION: Elevation of the center positioning pin of my tripod turned out to be approximately 5mm too high, so the base plate of the wedge could not be lowered entirely onto the tripod. Or, let's express it the other way round: the screw in the center of the base plate of the wedge is 5mm too long. As a workaround I had to loosen the screw in the center of the base plate first in order to connect base plate with tripod and tighten all three screws of the tripod head. Then I could tighten the center screw of the base plate again until it hit the center positioning pin. To correct this mismatch I bought a bolt spacer (10mm diameter, 8mm inner diameter and 5mm long).
