Impressive Performance

Purchased a pair of Celestron Cavalry 15x70s for astronomy and am genuinely impressed by the build and performance.

The cavalry is a step up from the old SkyMaster. They are waterproof, nitrogen purged and have a slightly wider FOV. The close focus is longer than the Skymaster at 22m which may be issue for nature viewers but not for astronomy. Build is robust but they can still be hand-held for short periods although a tripod is a must for longer sessions.

Stars were pin sharp across 80-85% of the field before softening at the edges. Very slight flaring was noted on really bright stars like Vega. I could not detect any false colour around the Moon, the views of which were stunning.

The only negative I have is that the oversized eyepieces, whilst offering good eye relief, also sit quite firmly (hard) against your nose even if like me you have an average IPD distance and average sized nose!

Overall though very pleased with binoculars/purchase and the fast delivery from First Light Optics.
