Starbase 1.25" Orthoscopic Eyepieces 14mm Starbase Orthoscopic Eyepiece

£59.00 £44.00

Steve Ringwood writing for Astronomy Now Magazine.

"Like telescopes, eyepieces come in all shapes and sizes, at equally varying prices. Fortunately, the Starbase range of eyepieces is very reasonably priced and good quality, the latter being underlined by their source being Takahashi, a highly respected optical company.

The 1.25-inch-fitting Starbase orthoscopic, depending on the focal length, provides apparent fields of view of between 43 and 53 degrees. Despite their name, understand that, component-wise, these eyepieces are asymmetrical Plössis, configured to behave like an orthoscopic. Irrespective of this unconventional nomenclature, these eyepieces are great quality at a budget price."

Don’t be fooled by the price, this little eyepiece punches way above its price. Very very good quality, so much so in fact that I am going to buy a selection of these. Eye relief is good, and it’s a small eyepiece, so doesn’t upset the balance of the telescope when you change them over.
