About this product

Model:  tv_ep_panoptic_35mm
Part Number:  EPO-35.0

Tele Vue has taken the Wide-Field concept to Nagler-like performance levels — a meaningful advance over any eyepiece in its 68° field class.

Concept: Using my Wide-Field design as a starting point, I looked to bring Nagler-like performance to the 60+° field class with the Panoptic series. The idea of a lens to "interface" between the eyepiece and Barlow struck me as the proper way to keep size, weight and cost to a minimum while improving edge of field performance even further. I later developed this idea into the Powermates. — Al Nagler

Eyepiece Field of View Simulator

19mm

Size, weight and performance make the 19mm an ideal mid power chioce. Ideal "soul-mate" to Bino Vue. Parfocal with smaller Plössls and Naglers.

24mm

This Sky & Telescope "Hot Product" is designed to produce the largest true field possible in a 1¼" eyepiece. (Its 27mm field stop is the same as the 32mm Tele Vue Plössl). The higher power darkens the sky background while the greater magnification yields more details on extended objects. Further, its light weight (1/2 lb.), comfortable 15mm eye relief, and tapered top instantly make the 24mm Panoptic the ideal eyepiece for getting the maximum field for binocular viewers.

27mm

Housed in a 2" barrel like the 35mm, the 27mm is lighter & smaller. It's perfect for any telescope size, type or speed, where a little more magnification is desired, yet still allows full field viewing with eyeglasses. For example, with the Tele Vue-85, it gives 22x and a true field of 2.9 degrees!

35mm

The 35mm has a large true field with plenty of eye relief for eyeglass wearers.  When combined with a Paracorr to correct the coma of an f/4.5 Newtonian, performance is spectacular across the 68 degree field. Imagine, sharp star clusters at the extreme edge of the field along with a 6.8mm exit pupil!

41mm

The 41mm Panoptic eyepiece is a big brother to the 24mm Panoptic (largest 1.25" field). With its 46mm field stop, the 41mm Panoptic delivers the largest 2" field possible. An adjustable and removable screw-type top allows quick, comfortable eye positioning. The scalloped shape gives a positive grip.

Excellent product and service from FLO

DPD Delivery
29 December 2021  |

I do not have much to say about the Televue eyepiece. Its been cloudy (forever). Looks the same high quality as expected from Televue. I do have something to say about FLO's choice of DPD for delievery. DPD are brilliant. The eyepiece had been on order for some time, and then I was notified that delivery would be the day after I was going to my daughter for Xmas. It was very easy to reschedule the delivery with DPD and I know that other carriers are far less helpful. Well done FLO on an excellent choice of carrier.

19mm Televue Panoptic
20 January 2021  |

Tried this in a few scopes..1st a very sharp view of Jupiter in a 8SCT my best ever..
IN an 130 Apo incredibly sharp, sharp as a Tak 18mm Ortho it seemed with a huge field in comparison but some pincushion distortion, which was not bothersome, albeit little eye relief for eyeglass wearers...But
If you want Razor Sharp views in most scopes and with a 21.3mm field stop a wide field ,light weight with with excellent Contrast and near Ortho like that barlows very well ..it did with a gso 3x Ed then get this baby, you wont regret it.

Panoptic 27 mm

Beautiful chunky little 2inch eyepiece. I added it to be my low power mag at 26x in my 102 f7 refractor. Very easy eye placement with a nice crisp view. I would highly recommend this tv eyepiece.

Good quality 24mm lens
26 June 2020  |

The 24mm TeleVue Panoptic is a quality product, and a considerable improvement on the inexpensive 25mm eyepiece that came with my telescope. The 27mm field stop gives a wide view, and the image is clear with good contrast. I chose this lens as it had excellent reviews and I decided it was worth the price as I use this magnification a lot for initially locating objects when star hopping, and it's useful for viewing the moon and some open clusters too.

Binocular "Astro" Telescope
03 December 2019  |

A few years ago I built a 10" Newtonian telescope based on a Ball mount as an experiment after reading about Jerry Oltion's ball telescope in the USA. As I already have a 14" dobsonian telescope and two eyes are better than one, and better than the sum of the parts I decided to try what you would normally not do. I converted my 10" ball telescope so that I could use my Tele Vue Bino Vue Binocular viewer without the attached X2 Barlow lens to give me the widest possible FOV. It works extremely well with my newly purchased 24mm Panoptics without any vignetting. I can get 1.36 degrees FOV with the equivalent of 6.65" mirror diameter light gathering power for each eyepiece. Super for scanning the sky.

Unbeatable rich field eyepiece

Owned 2 of the 35mm. Eye relief OK for glasses with the cup rolled back.
Heavy but not too extreme. Stars pin points edge to edge in my refractors.

With Newtonians, using a Tele Vue Paracorr 2 coma corrector it's setting is G.

Fitting a Nebula filter such as an OIII this Panoptic, with a wide enough field of view, will show stunning views of Orion, Veil, Pleiades and without a filter the Andromeda galaxy is breathtaking.
