Almost indispensable for large binoculars

Movement is smooth and there is very little shift in position on tightening the locks; this mount works considerably better than the usual pan head supplied with tripods, partly because of the smoothness, but also the better balance.

I bought this mount for my Oberwerk BT100x45 binoculars ( Older Model ) weight of it is 13.5 kilos just under 30 pounds and
having low centre of gravity the mount had no problems what so ever at any angle even at 90 degrees solid built and very smooth movements
but i will say telescopes over 150mm ( 6 inch ) and over 7 kilos may run into problems because it will be top too heavy anything
over 45 degrees may cause balancing problems (slippage ) very happy with this mount and at a good price .

I ordered the Astro Essentials Alt-Azimuth Fork Mount on April 1st. The order was confirmed by FLO on April 3rd and delivered to northern California on April 5th. Very fast delivery and excellent packaging!

Once received, I immediately placed the fork mount on my Manfrotto 475b pro tripod. It looks sleek! With a payload capacity of 15lbs (perhaps 20lbs if you're really stretching it, I never tried this) it was great to test out how many of my telescopes looked on a large fork mount.

I've mounted my largest 6" newtonian (Celestron XLT 150) to my longest 4" refractor (Sky-Watcher EvoStar 100ED) and it was butter smooth to adjust the tension knobs and pan across the sky.

For technical information about the clamp, the same model is also found in the FLO catalog, Model: ae_vsdc_sml. I measured the included raiser block (the black block underneath the clamp) at 2mm thick. I ended up replacing the included clamp with a much larger one and it works like a charm with the provided 2x M6 cap head screws.

Overall, this is by far the best money I've spent on a fork mount after months of research. I didn't want to spend hundreds on the Orion U-mount to the more expensive TeleVue Gibraltar mount. The Astro Essentials Alt-Azimuth Fork Mount is the best of both worlds at quality and affordability, plus size! It will last a lifetime of observing with great care.

Thank you, FLO!

Astro Essentials Alt-Azimuth Fork Mount

Hi all , I ordered the Alt Az Astro Swing mount which arrived at my house in 4 days from UK to Orleans, Ontario , Canada . the service is great and shipping was very quick and very reasonable prices, . I mounted the swing mount on my wooden tripod (Oberwork) . My project turned out amazing , the swing mount mounted on the wooden tripod and set up my 120MM Equinox APO . and Wow a great fit. The setup is very solid and looking amazing , The swing mount is very easy to setup and use, and I can use the mount with all my gear, but mainly for my 120 Equinox looks so sharp and waiting for clear skies try out this amazing setup, I would recommend this Alt Az swing mount , and holds 20lbs of equipment with ease.. Thank you FLO for great equipment and looking forward to the next purchase.

6 inch Mak-Cass is possible Maximum to use.
04 May 2022  |

So far, it is good price range and can handle a 6 inch Mak-Cass OTA.
However, it seems difficult to use 8 inch class. I will try to check it soon.
One thing is very required to adjust Alt-Azi fine knobs, which are missing now.
Compared to heavy ones, it is light and a bit lower capability.
Alt-Azi is very convenient for visual observations, I recommend it for who has under 6 inch reflectors.

Response:

"it seems difficult to use 8 inch"

This is normal - a mount of this size and type is not designed to carry an 8" SCT.
