used for extra clearance

I think the intended purpose of this is to prevent your camera/scope from hitting the legs, but I found it useful to get just a little extra clearance over the trees and roof of my house!

Extra height and helpful for cable management

I have a static pier with an adapter plate and it did not have a central post or azimuth peg so I decided to buy the Ioptron mini pier. It solved the problem and also my setup has benefited from the extra height and I have been able to tie cables to the mini pier and feed them up through my Ioptron CEM40 mount so everything is very neat. Very pleased with the purchase and would not hesitate to recommend it to someone with similar needs.

Handy if you need a bit more height

I’m using a Nikon Z6 on a CEM40 and the extra few inches this provides is really helpful when checking out images of stars close to directly overhead, or when calibrating my goto. It attached easily to the 2in tripod that came with my CEM40. Ioptron told me I can also use it on their tri-pier (not the 360 though). If you are doing a lot of visual observing standing up it will be hugely useful. If you are doing pure astro photography with your camera viewed and controlled via a camera it’s probably not helpful unless those extra inches helps you see past an obstruction. Mine came with two bolts and an alignment peg and was fitted in 2min.
