The exciting new Sky Hunter EQ ultra compact mount from Ioptron is a very welcome addition in the field of ultra portable imaging platforms.

Fifteen years after releasing the innovational CubeTM AZ/EQ GoTo mount, the SkyHunterTM takes the next step toward perfection. It is the lightest and most compact full function portable goto mount in iOptron's exceptional history. Weighing in at only 2.9 lbs (including internal rechargeable battery), the SkyHunter TM is capable of supporting an 11 lbs payload in both equatorial and alt-azimuth modes.
The SkyHunterTM mount features four tracking rates, 1X or sidereal, 1/2X for sky and landscape combined, solar and lunar. All 4 tracking rates work in both northern and southern hemispheres.
The SkyHunterTM mount can be controlled by an iOS or Android SmartPhone/tablet, an optional 8410 hand controller, or a computer via ASCOM, INDI or embedded drive.

Took a gamble when ordering, not many videos out there concerning this mount & was in a dilemma as to order this or the S/W AZ GTi. What swung it was this mount has internal power, can be used in eq or az straight from the box & has all necessary items included. Setting up was straight forward & the only lengthy part was initialising iOptron Commander. Once done, it works flawlessly once you get use to some small quirks (tension of clutches).
Works like a charm with a large refractor + dslr, in doing so was pushing the weight bearing capacity to its upper envelope. Due to the weather conditions over the past month have only been able to use this item half a dozen times but each time has been marvellous.
