Compact size

Few mounts are as small and compact as this one! It is so compact that it fits in the palm of your hand, and when you rotate it on its axes, you will be delighted with the smooth, precise movements.

Capacity

Any suitably sized telescope fitted with a Vixen-type mounting bar can be fitted quickly and easily. Maximum payload capacity is up to around 4kg.

Perfect for grab-and-go astronomy!

Let me say that I’m always impressed by the quick delivery of this mount from FLO to Northern California in 5 days!

I was excited to receive this mount due to a number of reviews and recommendations for its small profile and weight. It's possible to mount the Omegon AZ-Baby on the Tele-Pod advanced aluminum tripod and fit it completely in the tripod bag — ready to be deployed for those quick, grab-and-go observing sessions.

Payload capacity is listed at 4kg (9lbs) but I would estimate that 5kg (11lbs) would be the useful maximum payload before balancing issues arise. Mileage may vary due to payload and tripod of use.

This mount is aimed for the visual observer wanting to deploy their setups immediately. So far I’ve used a Celestron C80ED, Orion ED66 CF, and the Takahashi TS-50 all with ease using a number of heavy accessories and eyepiece configurations. The bearings are especially impressive by how smooth they are. Once my telescope is balanced, motion can be moved by the slight push of my fingertip.

I was very impressed given the convenience of it being assembled with my tripod, its size, and included clamp that I decided that it would permanently replace both my TeleVue Tele-Pod and Berlebach Castor II mounts altogether.

One minor nitpick I have is the color of the installed clamp. While it wasn’t black as advertised, my delivered clamp was silver. However, this is purely cosmetic and doesn’t hinder the functionality of the mount.
