I bought this to be able to put a StarSense Explorer phone holder away from the eyepiece end of my StellaMira 125ED f7.8. It helps in balancing the scope and also keeps the glow of the phone away from your eyes. The handle of the SM does have some holes in it, but are not in a good place to mount the holder where I wanted it. I was going to replace the SM handle with the Askar plate, but the latter was too short so I bolted it directly onto the handle.
The Askar plate is the best design in my view and enables you to mount anything at any place along it's length in a variety of positions. It is not only very well made, but it comes in red which matches the colour of the trim on the StellaMira scope! Well worth the price.
