About this product

Model:  ae_plossl_ep_7.5mm

These 4-element Super Plössl eyepieces offer remarkably high performance at a surprisingly low price!

Fully multi-coated optics increase light transmission, and blackened lens edges minimise internal reflection and enhance contrast.

Best suited for telescopes with f-ratios f6 or slower.

All focal lengths provide a 52º field-of-view (except the 40mm, which offers 42º).

The threaded nosepiece accepts 1.25" filters (except the 56mm, which has a 2" nosepiece that accepts 2" filters).

32 and 40mm: due to the 1.25" barrel size, the 32 and 40mm eyepieces show the same sky area. So, for visual use, the 32mm is the better choice. The 40mm is however useful when a compact camera is positioned over the eyepiece for afocal photography.

56mm: The 56mm is an impressive eyepiece that is larger and heavier than the others. Its 2" diameter nosepiece requires a 2" eyepiece holder or diagonal. Due to its larger design, it is not parfocal with the other eyepieces in this series (you will need to refocus when changing eyepieces).

Note to spectacle wearers: Plössl eyepieces with 15mm and longer focal lengths are good choices for spectacle wearers. For shorter focal lengths, the StarGuider BST series eyepieces have greater eye-relief, so are better suited.

Great 32mm eyepiece
04 January 2024  |

I got the 32mm for Christmas and am using it with my Celestron Nexstar 5SE. It gives nice sharp views and has a relatively long eye relief (around 23mm) compared to my other eyepieces, which will be of benefit to anyone wearing glasses or who just likes not to have to squash their eye up to the scope. Everything looks bright and clear. A really good value eyepiece.

Perfect upgrade to the eyepieces given with a new telescope, the quality shows it the weight and how clear every thing looks now.

Very impressive for the price. Decent field of view and good eye-relief (unlike shorter focal length Plossls). Works well with my f/12 Mak.

I am enjoying the sharpness and beauty of the images it gives. It feels high quality, being metal made. Really pleased with my purchase.

Ok, I'm a bit of a eyepiece addict.
Bought one Astro Essentials Plossl for Evaluation....ended up buying all focal lengths from 7.5mm through to 26mm!
Unless you have a expensive premium telescope these dirt cheap but decent quality eyepieces will show you pretty much all your telescope is capable of showing you.
I have an embarassingly extensive collection of classic Japanese made Ep's & these compare very favourably.
Not a fan of eyecups~ generally I find them uncomfortable, but these AE Plossls have the most comfortable eyecups (thin rubber) i've ever used~Most welcome with the neighbours lights.
A genuine Astronomy bargain IMO. Cannot fault for the money.
I have compared them with Plossls costing somewhat more & they are the equal or better in all respects.

Astro Essentials 32mm Eyepiece

I originally bought this eyepiece for solar observing with a quark (which I haven't yet got around to) however it has become my go to eyepiece for star alignment when setting up. Great value for the money.
