The new HitecAstro DC Focus V2 is designed and extensively tested to support the Skywatcher Auto Focuser and JMI focus motors. Manual focus operation is provided but it is when connected to a PC via USB-2 that the DC Focus comes into its own.
Specially written software provides very accurate control of the focus motor, indeed everything including speed, accuracy and frequency of operation is adjustable.
HitecAstro also developed an ASCOM compliant driver to compliment the DC Focus software bundle which should allow it to be used with any software which supports the ASCOM standard such as Maxim DL. CCD Soft, Focus Max etc.
Includes 12V DC Male Cigarette lighter plug for use with a suitable power source.

Existing Owners - Multiple Controllers
For existing Hitec DC Focus owners who wish to add a second controller to use alongside their existing one please select the 'Additional' option above.
This allows you to run a second controller in parallel with the existing controller on the same PC. In every other respect HitecDCFocus2 is exactly the same as the original.
Running two of exactly the same device from the same PC is not normally possible as the USB identifier would conflict and the PC would not know which one to talk to. HitecDCFocus2 contains a separate USB identifier so that they can be run side by side.
Note you will need to install the HitecDCFocus2 software and ascom driver to control the new unit. You can find these on the Hitec Astro support page.

Hello, using this to USB control my Skywatcher electric focuser. It works very well and seems to be pretty accurate at returning to a given position given the inherent play in the system. The instructions I found were a bit confusing in places probably because app versions were out of date, but it all fell into place. I have only tried the Hitech control software so far which is fine, I havent tried any other recommendations.

Just acquired this to support my Skywatcher 200mm on an EQ5 Pro. The focus controller is well made and runs off a USB cable. It is small, lightweight but clearly good quality - certainly vastly better than the controller which comes with the Skywatcherremote fofusser. I am now able to control focus, image and motion of my telescope remotely, leaving it completely undisturbed. I am looking forward to testing in the field. Great service by FLO too! Thanks.

I originally ordered a new SkyWatcher electric focuser to replace an ageing one where the hand control buttons were failing. It was going to take a while to get this due to goods coming from China during the current crisis. I found this a great alternative. Works really well and a great hand control replacement. Smaller than I thought it would be (good) and of robust alloy construction. Complete with 12v cigarette lighter power lead and USB lead. Software download and install on Windows 10 with no problems. Step function does a good impression of a much dearer stepper motor system. First outing no problems controlling it via a USB hub.

I have one of these connected to my Skywatcher Focus motor to my Samyang 135mm lens. I bought a 3d Printer toothed wheel and belt so as to connect the motor around the lens. I now have autofocus working brilliantly with my wide-field Samyang lens, controlled by SGP. The ASCOM driver software is picked up by astronomy programs straight away. So I am always in focus Delighted!!
