This convenient FTDI EQDIR adapter allows direct connection of Sky-watcher EQ6 or NEQ6 Syntrek/PRO mounts to your laptop.
We have also taken this opportunity to specify higher quality plugs. I.e. the DSUB plug has thumbscrews, so is easy to secure, and the point where the cable fits the plugs is nice and tight to prevent moisture entering the plug.
5m cable length.
The EQMOD project consists of a suite of open source applications that bypasses the hand-controller and communicates directly with the mount's stepper motor controller.

Arrived fast and well packaged.
Simplicity itself with a win10 laptop. Downloded EQMOD and the ESCOM pack while waiting on delivery.
Using Carte du Ciel , everything opens up without a problem , mount now fully under laptop control , much easier goto than with the handset supplied with Neq6.
I will add a gamepad to simplify initial alignment.
Very highly recommended upgrade at a budget friendly price.

Within just a few minutes I installed the drivers of the Lynx Astro adapter and following the plug-in my EQMOD was ready to command the mount.

My old Eq-dir cable had started to become a little flakey ie ; dropping the comm ports. The next day had been forecast for clear skies , so I'me quite desperate for a new cable to get set up and running . It arrived the next day after I ordered !! Plugged it in and all comm ports up and running again !! Thanks FLO for the immediate service I received , most impressed .

Cable arrived arrived promptly and works perfectly. Finally able to ditch my ageing and increasingly temperamental SynScan handset
A huge improvement. VERY HAPPY!

A fine working cable which allowed the connection of my laptop with NEQ6. Relatively good price, little more economically it would have helped amateur astronomers in Greece. After all we are still in crisis, Thanks and take care.

Just plug it in, use the bino button in Eqmod to automatically select the comm port and it works. It really is that simple. Having fought with a previous cable of different make losing drivers and observing time this is a real breath of air. I was about to give up using Eqmod and revert to using the handset. Now when I connect the cable to any port in my 2 laptops, (running W10, upgraded from W7 and W8.1 respectively), I can be observing in just the time it takes to put everything together. As others have said it's a quality piece of kit and money well spent.

I bought this to control my EQ6 from the planetarium software on my laptop amongst all the other possibilities it brings. I plugged the lead in, it installed its own drivers and, well, nothing really. This was the first time I had tried to control the mount from my laptop and despite searching around it took me around a day to realise I also needed something like Stellarium Scope. I can’t say I found it easy to get everything working but thanks to this lead I can click on Stellarium and my scope goes there and then Astro Tortilla plate solves for me making the final adjustments.
In short - lead is great and I have no hesitation to recommend it. FLO were great as usual. An (easy to find) idiots guide would be handy, if anything there’s too much information to wade through before you get to the bit that is relevant.

A quality product that worked first time - when I had been given the instructions on which driver to load. FLO are not lone in being a little short at times on supplying instructions - but when asked they do come up trumps.

Got the cable last week and everything worked perfectly. Now I control my computer with the Ascom drivers. Didn't expect it to be that simple.
