Model: nevada_psw-30Part Number: PSW-30
The Nevada PSW-30 is a high efficiency, high performance, switch mode power supply that can power a number of devices simultaneously with ease.
Originally designed to minimise switching noise for amateur radio so is an excellent choice for use with astronomy equipment.
The clean low-noise output means you won't experience the handset/alignment glitches associated with budget power supplies, and if minor noise does occur it can be eliminated with the Noise-Offset function.
Supplied with a 1.5m, 3-pin UK-type C13 plug.
Input Voltage: 240 VACOutput Voltage: 9-15 VDC adjustable or 13.8 VDC fixedOutput Current: 25 A continuous, 30 A surge.Output Voltage Regulation: Less than 2%Ripple: Less than 80mV p-p at rated load.Front Power Connectors: 10A cigarette lighter plug + pair 3A push-in terminalsRear Power Connectors : 2 x large 25-30A Red/Black binding postsControls: Voltage/Amperage meter switch (front), power switch (front), Noise Offset control (front), Variable/13.8V Fixed voltage switch (back)Weight: 2.3 kg / 5 lbsSize: 190mm W x 69mm H x 181mm D (7.5 in x 2.7 in x 7.1 in)Warranty: 2 years

You need this, as the review title suggests. This psu produces flat, stabile power that will drive anything you may need without any problems. It is not waterproof so you need to keep it dry so either get some long power leads (Lynx Astro are amazing) and keep it indoors or get an outdoors waterproof box for electricals (dri-boxes are great). I do (kind of) both. i keep mine in a waterproof box and i find that even with 5m Lynx cables i am getting insignificant voltage drops and that i can drive my mount, two camers, PPBADV2, filter wheel and focuser without any issues and have more amps left then i can consume. As i said - amazing power supply unit.A Thank You goes to the great FLO people who recommended Nevada to me and, as usual, delivery etc were flawless!
Wow an awesome piece of Astro equipment. I bought this item a while back now, having had trouble with a previous mobile power pack. So I have literally had tons of experience with it....I decided to stick to back yard Astro and the household power supply....Once plugged in it just goes, has enough power to supply everything and I have a top notch rig set up where everything is drawing power. No trouble whatsoever.....I use the ring tongue set up at the rear of the device, rather than the cigarette light option at the front, for me this is more convenient. Once again big thanks to the help from FLO in guiding me to this item...
Not been able try yet but reading the reviews made my mind up to take the plunge.Look forward eventually connecting up at new residence
This little giant is a real powerhouse, I’ve been having issues left right & centre running a CEM70g (2 built in cameras) 2 additional cameras, 2 dew heater straps and a Stellarmate Plus. The problems were I couldn’t get KStars/Ekos to maintain a stable connection with the cameras or mount, glitching on the usb connections. It turned out that there just wasn’t enough power (voltage & current) being supplied to run everything at once. I found this out by using individual power supplies to the set up which worked as there was no drain in voltage or current that could starve each other of its power requirements. So I bought this after some discussion with Flo and it hasn’t disappointed. There’s a constant 13.8v supply despite all that’s connected and with the option of using the rear connectors, you get up to 25a of continuous power, more than ample. With everything up & running and even pushing the dew heater straps at 100%, the supply wasn’t even breaking a sweat and it never used any more than 3amps and any one time. This really is a stable power unit and would be a great compliment to any observatory or backyard set up. Thanks Flo as always for good advice and premium quality products.
I Bought this to power my ASIAIR Pro and AZ-EQ6 Pro mount. I use 2 Lynx Astro silicone cables from FLO with this unit, one for the mount and one for the ASIAIR Pro. T hey have spade connectors that connect together on the 25amp posts on the back of the power supply. This provides regulated power at 13.8 volts and gives a comfortable margin between required current and available current. The Nevada PSU is solidly built and work’s flawlessly. For the slight extra cost over a power adapter ‘brick’ it really is a no-brainier for me. The readout on the front panel can be switched between voltage and current, which is useful to see how many amps your rig is demanding. Thoroughly recommend this product if you want peace of mind regarding powering your expensive gear.
After the battery pack dying on me I bit the bullet and bought the 30A Nevada power supply. Great move, nicely future proofed for me so hopefully it will cope with everything I need from it. Note: this is a bench power supply, with no fixing holes on the base just rubber feet. But..... I removed the feet and using the same screw holes and self tapping screws, fitted some metal din rail to the power supply which extended past the length of the device and fixed it that way.
I was fed up of power issues, cheap wires and ebay 12v adapters causing disruption and frustration. So I bit the bullet and ordered one of these after reading the reviews. Used in connection with Lynx Astro cables this provides the perfect solution.Admittedly, neither the power supply or the cables are the cheapest solution but you really do get what you pay for. Everything is well made. The power unit should provide years of service and scope to add as many peices of equipment as necessary. Highly recommended
My Powertank failed after many years of good use, however rather than replace with a like for like I decided to change it for the Nevada. This was mainly due to the fact I seldom venture away from home for my AP, also as I have a semi permanent observatory in the back garden then this would potentially be a perfect fit. Although I've only used it twice, the first time at -8 and the second time at a balmy -6, both times I've had no issues whatsoever in the operation of this unit. Nothing really more to say on this, it does exactly as you would expect it to do, supply power to my full rig with no deviations in service. On the service of FLO, it was again, as it has been for every other purchase I've made, exemplary, information and advice from FLO was spot on. I know we pay for the delivery and packaging over and above the purchase price but the standard and quality is very excellent and on the delivery it's self it was delivered on the day advised and on time.
Bought this as it has both a fixed and variable power output plus a meter which allows me to see what's going on. Extremely well made and very robust, should stand up to the rigors of outdoor observing.now that winter is approaching my old power supply was beginning to struggle with all the cameras, dew heaters etc attached so this one should be easily able to handle any amount of power requirement up to 30A.I have to say FLO's packing and delivery are second to none - the power supply was delivered within two days and the level of packaging was exemplary - it took me an age to find it amongst all the styrene chippings lol - they certainly make sure your goods arrive in perfect condition, thank you FLO for a first class item and service!
