The CGX 925 includes one of Celestron’s best known Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescopes with premium StarBright XLT coated optics and the all-new state of the art CGX computerised equatorial mount.

The 9 1/4" was specifically designed for visual infinity focus when using 2" eyepieces and has an optimised baffle system to benefit astrophotography by minimising vignetting at the edge of the field of view. Its longer primary focal length and lower magnification secondary mirror contribute to a flatter field of view at the focal plane and helps to further reduce optical aberrations. It is also Fastar/Hyperstar Compatibile.

For eight years, Celestron’s workhorse CGEM mount lineup has been the German Equatorial backbone for telescopes ranging from 6 to 11 inches of aperture. Since that time, many more astro-imagers and planetarium controlled setups have emerged as backyard telescope technology has evolved. Celestron’s engineering team applied their years of experience designing German Equatorial mounts to the all-new CGX EQ, a culmination of all the advancements made to Celestron’s technologies, value, and ease-of-use.

The new CGX was designed to support your telescope for both visual and astro-imaging pursuits. Key design goals included a lower profile EQ head for a more compact and therefore more stable setup; a better drive system; remote operation-friendly with home and limit optical sensors; easier polar alignment adjustments and better cable management. In addition, there are several mechanical and ergonomic improvements to make the mount sturdier, easier to use and transport.

Great purchase

This was my first purchase of a 'serious' scope, and FLO were really helpful in nailing down what I wanted. The CGX mount and tripod are really solid. The mount requires a small bit of assembly, most of which is pretty straight forward. The right ascension adjustment knobs that you have to install were not mentioned but some common sense worked it out. The set up with the Nexstar is pretty simple, though I had to work out how to turn on the real time clock so the mount remembered the time. Again, not in the manual but common sense (and working through the Nexstar menu system) prevailed. The 9.25SCT is great, and easy to use, tho have not had a chance yet to test on challenging DSO yet. But I will probably order a better finder (with a right angle prism).
