Great Product and it comes with a Tripod Adaptor
28 October 2021  |

The product is great: not too heavy, easily balanced and hand held (15 x 70) and ideal for a look at the stars.

The product description comes with a tripod adaptor - so no need to order one. That's a bonus!

The magnesium construction results in a very strong product and the rubber coating is pleasing and has a nice feel.

The optics are very good. Much better than budget and not far off the "top draw" and "sky high" prices. Value for money is very high.

The focusing is IF - this just means that the focus is done first for one eye and then the other. In theory, that is good for anything beyond a certain point (the hyperlocal distance method). For astronomy it means that you simply focus one eye and then the other. At infinity it stays the same ... moon stars etc. The markings mean that you can return the scope to the case or lend to a friend and put it back - perfect. The alternative type of focusing used on GP binoculars is a diopter adjustment and a focus wheel. When setup properly - for astronomy there will be no need to refocus - so IF is preferable for astronomy. The GP type has it's pros - but for astronomy it's not convenient.

Astronomy binocular cases can be hard and bulky or flimsy and lacking protection. These are a middle ground, not too bulky and offering good protection. A belt loop is provided and the closure is a plastic seal secure closure. All nicely done. There is a strap for the case and one for the binoculars.

The cover for the objectives are captive and fold down. They fit into the front - not over the outside. No reason to doubt they will give good protection for a long time.

For astronomy the larger objective lets in a lot more light. The multi-coated optics don't waste much so the image is very bright.

For astronomy in mind, the product description comes with a tripod adaptor - that's good if you have a tripod or monopod. That seems to work very well but if you also want to handhold for shorter periods then that's OK too because (for the size) they are not too heavy and balance nicely.

Summary - very good and worth the money. Complements telescopes (I have three) and gives a different experience (3D immersive feel and very wide field of view) that's worth having.

Great buy!
11 September 2020  |

Binocular astronomy is a great hobby and these binoculars really are well performing and affordable. 70mm opening and 15x magnification really is a sweet spot in terms of light gathering, exit pupil, magnification, fov, weight and ease of use. The Moon is a spectacular sight in these binoculars!

Arrived in perfect condition and carefully packaged! Thanks!

Helios Stellar II 15x70 Binoculars
01 July 2020  |

Powerful pair of binoculars, certainly powerful enough for my needs, I bought them for terrestrial uses such as long distance bird and nature watching and to view hills and sea views.

I've looked at the moon and the view is really clear and stunning, stars are pinpoint clear as well, hadn't realised just how many stars were up there but I really don't now one star from another.

These binoculars let in a lot of light, even at dusk they work really well.

The clarity of the optics are very good, they have pinpoint focus although the IF focussing without a centre wheel focus does take a wee bit to get used to but you soon get the hang if it..no issue with that double image thing that some binoculars have, they have perfect alignment.

For the price I think they are great, without paying 5 times more I consider the quality of their lenses very very good. The Build quality is excellent and they seem quite sturdy and with their rubberised coating are easy to grip and use, they are easy to use handheld or by cleaning against a car or wall...that said I'm buying a used tripod for the longer range stuff.

If your seeking a pair of honest good quality binoculars at a decent price I'd have no trouble in reccomending these 15x70s binos.

Most impressed as were my mates who've seen and tried them.
