About this product

Model:  es_hr_cc
Part Number:  0510330

The Explore Scientific ES HR Coma Corrector is one of the highest quality units available on the market today. Its four element design yields a superbly corrected field with coma correction right to the edge of the field. This system is designed to work on Newtonian telescopes down to an amazing f/3 focal ratio. The Explore Scientific Coma Corrector has a 2" integrated helical focuser which allows the adjustment of spacing between the corrector's rear element and eyepieces or an imager's sensor plane - eliminating (in many cases) the need for the need to invest in additional spacer rings to acheive optimal results.

To use the HR Coma Corrector visually, you need to have at least 32mm spare inward travel at your focuser. Photographically, the Explore Scientific ES HR Coma Corrector shifts the focus outward by about 35mm - if you have no problem focusing your camera at prime focus, this unit should work without the need for extension tubes or modification.

Specifications:

  • 2" fitting
  • Mitigates or eliminates coma, field-curvature and astigmatism in Newtonian Telescopes
  • Diffraction limited performance on axis and in the field
  • Flattens the field
  • Works on a wide variety of focal lengths, down to f/3
  • Four-lens construction

Explore Scientific Coma Corrector

I have owned a 200mm f/4 imaging Newtonian for some years but it never quite performed to expectations as I could never entirely eliminate coma in the frame edges. Reluctantly, I came to the conclusion that the stock corrector was inadequate and decided to purchase the ES unit based on a published comparative review. Having test run the corrector I can say that the stars are now sharp to the edges. A small amount of fettling is still required but I am confident that this corrector will deliver great results.
