Building on the success of the iOptron CEM60 centre balance equatorial mount, iOptron have introduced the new CEM70.

Retaining the inherent properties of the centre balance design, this relatively compact mount provides an impressive 70 lbs (31.8 kg) payload capacity, precise GOTO pointing and accurate tracking (PE <±3.5 arc-sec) so will appeal to both both visual astronomers and astrophotographers. 

An impressive features list includes an internal iPolar electronic polar scope and easy lock drive gear engagement (levers large enough to use with gloves).

It also features an advanced cable management system for the mount, iPolar, guider, and camera. 

Note: The tripod/pier shown in photos not included but is available separately.

Solid mount

Only just setup on pier but initial test looking good. Thought my CEM40 was solid but this is a massive step-up in comparison. Great service as usual from FLO especially in these difficult times

FLO supplied the mount very quickly. There was a problem with it however. The ipolar scope was not working. FLO provided clear instructions for return, arranged for it to be picked up by courier and had it repaired and back to me the whole process taking less than 2 weeks even during covid lockdown. Impressive and professional service. As for the CEM 70 itself? Clear instructions online. Got it up, running and polar aligned - ipolar is easy to use - within a few hours and it has all performed very nicely thus far - guiding within 0.9 arcsec - imaging with loads up to about 11kg thus far. The whole set up on a tri- pier mount feels very stable, is light for its carrying capacity and runs quite quietly. Very happy with it - a more than adequate mount for any scope that I am likely to own.
