The Sky-Watcher AZ-EQ6GT is an exciting evolutionary development of the hugely successful NEQ6 PRO.
The AZ-EQ6GT is a dual purpose, fully functional computerised heavy-duty Go-To/Tracking astronomical mount in both Alt-Azimuth (AZ) and Equatorial (EQ) modes.
Supplied with a Synscan handset with dual AZ/EQ firmware, it can automatically find and track over 42,900 celestial objects from its database.
In EQ mode, the AZ-EQ6GT is designed for either visual use or precise astro-imaging. In AZ mode, it is primarily intended for visual use, and in this mode, two telescopes can be mounted simultaneously in parallel.
A great feature of the AZ-EQ6GT is the patented dual-encoder technology. This allows the telescope to be moved manually in either axis without the mount losing its positional information. This gives the user enormous freedom, convenience and flexibility during observational sessions.

This is a very good mount. One drawback is that many things you might consider useful or even necessary will need to be bought individually to put with the mount: WiFi adaptor, GPS, polemaster for polar alignment. These extras cost around £550.
This has been my experience. It will depend on your setup. You should make a plan for these three necessary ‘extras’ before you buy. Know how you will deal with each in your setup.
The mount is really good but it’s incomplete when you buy it if you haven’t an ASIAIR pro or some alternative to fill the voids.

There is solid reason for me why I have been using Skywatcher mounts. Price, simplicity and reliability.
AZ-EQ6 i just like that. I used it with Eqmod cable with my Asiair for months now without any issues. Heavy beast

Most of the equipment I have bought over the years has come from FLO and since the early days when they only had a few staff, they have always been a "family" business that really care for their customers. The service gets better and better and prices are always competitive. The guys, Steve, Rob and James are ever ready to help with any issues. Why go anywhere else?
The best GoTo mount in it's price group. Thursday, 26 March 2020 | Vesa
I've used it just a very short time but it seems to be fantastic. Very easy-to-use mechanics, precise go to after calibration. If I -by accident- move rec or dec, it doesn't lose calibration. Highly recommended.

I bought this mount from this site back when it was without that new green rings and without the word "Pro" on the body, and it is an excellent mount, i had some difficulties at first, but by the time and years it proved to be a remarkable mount really, and now after i added guiding i am able to go up to 10 minutes just nice with a proper gear, i am sure i can go even longer if the weight and balance is complete.
I highly recommend this mount, i can think about it as the top of the line of EQ6 mounts out there, i have no regret about it, if i have to regret then there are 2 things only:
1. It is very heavy, i never dissemble the mount from its tripod and i carry it always in and out, very heavy, although i can do it myself but i many times ask for help, so a lightweight mount could be a plus bu without sacrificing the performance of this amazing mount.
2. This mount making me to think about a high end or much better mount, don't get me wrong, with this mount you will never look back for anything less, and because how great it is you feel about how much better then if i go with higher end of it, but if i didn't go with higher end this mount is just ........ FLAWLESS!

Amazed at the delivery time and delivery price, considering the location, less than 48 hrs! Set up the mount with ease and found a couple of stars accurately before the weather changed. Compared to the Neq6 clutch assembly more robust and positive, elevation adjustment far superior. Ascom control via the RS232/serial port with homemade translator incorporating the MAX232A IC. Due to recent weather conditions not possible to asses the mount under imaging conditions.
Love it after almost a year of use. Saturday, 11 May 2019 | Nick
I have had this mount for about a year now.
I still love it.
When I first got the mount, there was something not right. It stopped slewing half way to a target and made a funny noise.
After some emails FLO decided to take it back and have it checked. They organised the pick up and return. After a while I got it back and haven't had any other issues since. So I am really happy with the great service here.
For a night of imaging I set it up in the backyard. Then do a rough polar alignment through the polar scope.
I use sharpcap for precise polar alignment.
Then I first take an image and use platesolve to see where I am looking. Then I sync the scope to those coordinates. That option is really nice!
After that I slew to a bright star for focusing. Usually it's a little off, but another platesolve and sync takes care of that.
After focusing I slew to my target for the night. Usually that object is spot on in the centre.
Then I can start imaging.
It takes about a half an hour to do all that.
I could not have done that with my old lxd75 mount.
One night, I even had to check the balance after alignment and didn't even have to realign. Also a very nice feature.
Anyway, I really like this mount and would definitely recommend it.

Prompt delivery and a couple of email questions answered by Martin in good time.
Just need a little less cloud to use it - there is a nice warning on the FLO packaging sticker...
Review from first time Astrophotographer Thursday, 26 April 2018 | Scott
I'd like to submit this review from the perspective of someone who is just starting out with astrophotography and was looking for his first equatorial tracking mount. I was looking for a eq mount for my Sky-Watcher 80ED DS-Pro, and it was a toss up between this and the AZ-EQ5. I went with this in order to future proof myself for possible future bigger telescopes and I don't regret it.
Good points:
Looks and feels very well made.
Slewing is nice and quiet.
I really like the new polar scope overlay, makes polar alignment very easy. I get great tracking without using any other tracking aids like polarscope etc.
The only minor bad point is some parts in the manual seems to incorrect. The polar alignment instructions have the old polar scope overlay in them!
