Some good points some not so good

Let's start with what I like about this mount.
Using colour ASI120 I tested this scope in a light poluted skies, at the centre of a city. There were very few stars to be seen with the naked eye, but no matter where I pointed I was able to get stars on my screen. From optical point I can not fault it. It comes well packaged and I use the box it came in to store/transport it. Removable finder dovetail fixed on top of Vixen type dovetail is handy. Dustcap is very well engineered, surprisingly so.

Drawbacks - the focuser has a number of faults. The three screws that lock the focuser into position are plastic and really not up to the job. A tad stronger pull on the guiding camera cord would make the focuser rotate and loose focus. The steel screws securing the guide camera/eyepiece have extremely limited travel inwards and while they do secure ZWO camera, they do not hold one of my eyepieces at all (Starguider 3.2 mm). The focusing requires to rotate whole focuser, which can be a problem if you intend to use the scope as both finder and guided, re-focusing can be tedious, though in some application as a guided it is fine, you'd do it once anyway.

Apart from the focuser, I can not fault this product and it does its job better than I anticipated. However, the focuser leaves a a lot to be desired.

Not great value for money

This scope does the job, but the build quality seems a little flimsy for the price, considering you can get an ST80 and a load of accessories for only a fraction more. One of the screws was broken on arrival but thankfully I had suitable steel screws as replacements. Dew shield is very short so this misted over within about 45 minutes on the first night out (although it continued to guide fine). The dovetail that comes with the scope doesn't have m6 threads that would match Skywatcher or William optics tube rings, so this had to be modified to mount in directly onto my scope.

Quality guide scope with hidden features and quirky focus.

I purchased this guide scope primarily to use with a ZWO 224MC which works really well. However I do have a collection of web cam based gadgets that I wanted try for guiding with the ZWO as the main imager. At first I struggled to get focus with these other web cams but then I noticed you can reduce the length of the main tube by 35mm which when combined with some extension tubes brought these other web cams into focus.

I say quirky focus because you have to rotate the 1.25" eyepiece barrel around a helical screw which means the camera rotates also, yes you can loosen the eyepiece screw that prevents the camera rotating but you need two hands, one to focus and one to hold the camera in place and stop it falling out.

Very good value guide scope. Added to my William Optics 73 APO on a Celestron AVX mount.

I have an HEQ5 mount with a 200P so weight was a factor when choosing a guide scope for me and this was the factor which made me choose it.

Eight months on and I couldn't be happier with this scope. I use it with a Loadstar X2 and even with a 2 second exposure time have yet to fail to get and hold a guide star. The FOV is nice and wide so you have plenty of choice.

Get some neoprene foam and make a dew shield and you'll not even have to worry about it dewing up either.

An excellent lightweight scope that I would recommend to anyone.
