A popular binocular for astronomy and low light use.

The Helios Naturesport Plus series has won a lot of friends, not least the BBC Sky at Night magazine who awarded the 10x50 WA 'Best Buy' in a group-test concluding:

"the best 10x50 binocular under £125".

Optical performance is very good due to BaK-4 prisms, multi-coated optics, long-eye relief and over-sized eye-lenses.

Features include Close-Focus from 3.5 metres (8x40 model) twist-up eyecups for spectacle wearers, tripod adaptor bush and comfortable black rubber finish.

Supplied with neck strap, caps and case.

Excellent quality for the price

My wife bought these for me for Xmas (at my request), and, generally speaking I'm very happy with them. They feel very sturdy and well made, and the optics perform very well (for the price). The view is very wide, with the full 'V' of the Hyades fitting in, for example, and the three belt stars of Orion fit with room to spare. Focusing is easy and precise, and stars appear very sharp, with good contrast. Large star clusters, such as the Pleiades, are fantastic, and I had excellent views of Andromeda and M33 on my first session (though I did struggle to find M81 & M82, thought that was probably down to the seeing conditions).
I had a look at Jupiter on New Year's Eve, but the planet was too bright to see any detail. I did see a couple of moon, though.
There are a couple of things to note, though. They are heavier that the weight listed here. I weighed them at closer to 1kg, than the 790g, and holding them steady isn't easy. There's also a noticeable distortion affecting the outer third or so of the field of view, though the central portion is pretty perfect. I could detect no chromatic aberration, though.
Finally, it doesn't say 'Plus' anywhere on the binoculars, nor on the box they came in, so I spent a little while concerned that I'd been sent the wrong items. FLO only seems to sell one version of these, and the part number matched that shown on the box.
Like I said: generally very happy, good solid binoculars, great quality for the price, but a little heavy, and with some distortion around the edge of the FOV.
