The Skywatcher Heritage-90 Virtuoso with high contrast Maksutov-Cassegrain optics is ideal for observing the Moon, planets and double-stars. It can also be used for high power daytime terrestrial viewing.

The Virtuoso mount provides a stable platform and will track night sky objects automatically once located.

The telescope can be slewed automatically in both axes, at five different speeds, via the mount’s electronic keypad.

A great feature of the Virtuoso is the patented Freedom-Find dual-encoder technology which allows the telescope to be moved manually in either axis without losing alignment or positional information. This gives the user enormous convenience and flexibility during observing sessions.

The Virtuoso mount can also be upgraded to full Go-To operation (finds thousands of celestial targets automatically) by purchasing a Synscan AZ Go-To handset and cable.

The Heritage Virtuoso is is intended primarily for astronomy but the mount also has a number of features that will appeal to photographers.

Camera Cruising: Take photographs automatically with your DSLR at up to 6 preset positions. The mount will stop at each predetermined position and automatically trigger the camera’s shutter release. (Canon-D electronic shutter release cable supplied but other Skywatcher cables are readily available)

Video Cruising/Time Lapse Photography: The mount can automatically move your video camera through up to 6 preset positions without any pause. Up to 5 speeds can be selected in this mode (see below)

Panoramic/Matrix Photography: The mount can control a DSLR camera to take long distance panoramas up to 360°.

Please note: The Virtuoso is first and foremost a mount for astronomy so it's photographic features are limited. For example, when using the Virtuoso the camera lens cannot be positioned at the nodal point when in portrait orientation, the shutter release time is limited to a maximum of 10 seconds and the sidereal tracking on the mount automatically turns off after 30 minutes.

Great mount/telescope combination.

Not the largest aperture but should be great with the Maks 1250 focal length for what I need when viewing the Moon and Planets. Will accompany my other recent purchase, the Seestar S50. The Sky-watcher Heritage 90 Virtuoso is a solid mount with a proven telescope that is able to track with the built in electrics. Very easily upgraded to a full Go-To mount by the option to purchase a Synscan AZ Handset and cable, or the Synscan AZ wi-fi dongle and control with your smartphone via the app. Yes, and FLO were yet again, exceptionally fast supply/delivery. Flawless.

Great little scope

I own a dobsonian 8", so this little scope is something that i can just grab and go. I bought it mainly for the mount and with little modification (EQ wedge homemade) I can use my DSLR for astrophotography.
The delivery time was exceptional!

I have the Virtuoso mount only and use it with the telescopes I already own such as a small Maksutov. I did originally run the mount using batteries, and this worked fine though batteries did not last very long when the weather was very cold, have since added a Celestron LifEP04 battery to my kit and this is also small and very light so fits well with this mount. The mount is very portable, easy to setup and tracks well if the correct setup has been followed. I have since picked up a GoTo synscan handset and this is very easy to use with this mount and with the mount’s added benefit of freedom find means if the telescope is knocked it is easy to return to the object being viewed. Freedom find also means if using batteries and the power runs out the telescope can still be enjoyed as it can be moved fully by hand manually with the mount’s clutches slackened off. I have also removed the telescope and fitted direct my camera with camera lens and enjoyed imaging within the limitations of the mount, as this type of mount whilst tracking objects this only keeps it in the field of view but does not account for field rotation so only short exposures are possible before field rotation and star elongations becomes apparent, but it is still enjoyable experimenting.
