FTDI USB to Serial Cable for iOptron Handsets

This convenient FTDI USB to Serial adapter allows direct connection of your iOptron handset to your computer allowing for firmware updates and computer control.

The FTDI 232R chipset works reliably across all versions of Windows and, because each cable has a unique chipset ID, each time you unplug the adapter then plug it back into the same computer, even if on a different physical USB port, the COM port number remains the same.

And, we quality control each and every Lynx Astro cable prior to dispatch.

2m or 5m cable length.

Compatible with Windows XP, 7, 8 & 10, Linux, Mac OSX 10.3 and above.

Windows users, the USB to Serial adapter should install automatically but should you require drivers they can be downloaded here.

This FTDI USB/Serial Adapter works!

Bought to replace an older USB to 9-Wat D-Type FTDI, then 9-Way D-Type to RJ9 cable assembly. This started to get unreliable after 5 or so years.

Works well

Cable fits Ioptron IEQ30PRO and works with Windows 11, unlike my Prolific one which doesn't support w11.

It just works!

I use astroberry (kstar/ekos on a raspberry pi 4) and have a CEM25. Plugged it in - all recognised and it just works. No fush. Just as i had (naively) hoped. How often does that happen with computers? Postage was very reasonable, quickly dispatched, and well packed. Thanks FLO!

works great

I had some trouble at first. I connected the hand controller of my CEM25 but couldn't connect. Simple enough, I just had to update my hand controller's firmware (Instructions and software are on ioptron's website) and voilá, it's all connected! I just wish the cable was made out of silicone, because in the Icelandic winter this one will become like a steel wire. oh well, it'll be fine nevertheless. Recommended!

Cable doesn't work
26 May 2020  |

When I connect the cable to the serial port of my iOptron 8408 Hand Controller and then to the USB port on my computer in order to connect my mount to my computer using iOptron Commander, iOptron commander tells me that it "couldn't find any supported iOptron devices." After searching around google and asking people online about this problem, I've come to the conclusion that this was probably caused by a faulty cable. As a big fan of FLO, I've got to say I'm slightly disappointed. If you're looking for a cable that will allow you to control your iOptron mount with your computer, get it from iOptron as they seem to be more reliable.

Response:

We cannot find any trace of you contacting us about this issue? If you are having difficulty please do get in touch. We will then collect, test and replace the cable. We would never knowingly sell a faulty cable.
