In astronomy I use lots of very expensive optics as part of my work so this budget spotting scope was new territory for me. I'm impressed. The view is remarkably sharp, exceeding my expectation. My only reservation concerns a small under-illuminated central portion of the image which is most noticeable at high powers against bright backgrounds. Much of the time it doesn't show at all and I would rather have docked 'half a star' than a whole one for it. The zoom ring on the eyepiece is rather stiff but that's not important. More importantly by far, the focus knob is light and smooth. The tripod is quite flimsy but I would regard it is being effectively free and good for occasional use. You will want a serious one as well, though. Both the carry bag and main box are excellent. A super compact, light spotter to have with you on the move. Superb value. Service from FLO was, as usual, perfect.
