Optical Bench Test
At FLO we check all SharpStar refractor telescopes on our optical bench before dispatch.
This ensures you can be confident your telescope will, from the outset, have well-figured optics, negligible false colour and spherical aberration, and no astigmatism (the bane of any optical system!). Star shapes will be round, not triangular, oval or egg-shaped!
SharpStar 140PH f/6.5 Triplet Dual-ED APO Telescope
The SharpStar 140PH features a 140mm air-spaced triplet objective with two ED glass elements for excellent colour correction, contrast, and sharpness.
With a native focal length of 910mm and a useful f/6.5 focal ratio, the telescope measures just 739mm in length, with its dew shield retracted, and weighs only 10.1kg.
An optional dedicated 0.73x 3" Reducer / Flattener brings the focal ratio down to a very fast f/4.8 with sharp stars across a 44mm field, so suitable for use with a full-frame sensor or DSLR.
The sturdy 4” dual-speed 10:1 Rack & Pinion focuser handles most full-frame astronomy cameras.
The excellent mechanics and premium fit-and-finish match the high-quality optics. The black CNC trim, carrying handle, and white gloss tube provide a distinctive look.
The SharpStar 140PH is also an impressive fast-focal-ratio telescope for visual astronomy.
The price includes a useful aluminium carry-case.
