The Japanese-made IDAS Body-Mounted filters enable you to mount a special low-profile 37mm IDAS LPS-D1, LPS-D2, HEUIBII, LPS-V4, NB1 or Night Glow Suppression filter into certain Canon EOS DSLR cameras using a simple, tool-less procedure.
The filters are held between the rear of the camera lens and the camera body.
EOSRP Filters are set into the Canon RP Body and this makes the focal point 0.8mm shorter which affects the image quality unless the sensors distance is recalibrated.
As such these filters are recommended only for use with modified cameras where the sensor recalibration can be done.
LPS-D1-EOS - Is in our opinion the BEST Light Pollution Suppression filter for astro photography with DSLR, colour and mono CCD cameras.
LPS-D2-EOS - Improves colour balance with colour cameras and also uniquely provides LED light pollution suppression.
HEUIBII-EOS - A good choice for modded cameras in areas with low light pollution (the HEUIBB stands for Hydrogen Alpha Enhanced UV/IR Block)
LPS-V4-EOS - Intended for those with greater light pollution.
NGS1-EOSII - Night Glow Suppression filter for Canon Cameras with a version (NGS1-EOSRP for the Canon RP)
NB1-EOSII - Nebula Booster filter for Canon Cameras with a version (NB1-EOSRP for the Canon RP)

As shown in the animation above the steps for insertion of the filter is as follows:
- Align the filter carrier flanges with the gaps in the Canon bayonet flanges. Note that the side profile of the filter carrier should protrude downwards to match the slight depression in the Canon body.
- Gently place the filter into the Canon body cavity where it should sit loosely.
- Rotate the filter counter-clockwise so that the filter and body flanges line up (not all the way to the end of travel). The filter is still loosely sitting in the cavity in the Canon body but because the flanges are aligned, the filter cannot easily fall out if the body is tilted.
- Mount the telescope adapter or lens into the Canon body and rotate it clockwise to lock both the filter and adapter/lens in place. If possible, keep the camera body horizontal while attaching it to the lens or telescope to minimise the possibility of the filter shifting before it is locked into place.
To remove the MFA from the Canon body follow these steps:
- Remove the lens or telescope adapter in the normal way for a Canon body, taking care to to keep the body in a nearly horizontal position to prevent the filter from shifting as it loosens. After the lens or adapter has been removed the MFA will be sitting loosely in the Canon body.
- Rotate the MFA so that the filter flanges line up with the gaps in the Canon bayonet mount.
- Place a soft, lint-free cloth across the mouth of the Canon mount and tilt the body and cloth until the filter drops onto the cloth.

I got lucky and had a brief respite in the clouds when this arrived. I hurriedly tested the filter with the Orion Nebula and was blown away by the colour balance this filter provides over the other filters I have used. Those other filters only resulted in frustration at the loss of spectrum. This filter is worth every extra penny paid.
I ordered this knowing there would be a delay, but when asked about delivery customer support were informative, courteous and prompt in their reply. Highly recommend the service provided at FLO.
IDAS for Canon EOS - quick review

For wide fields I use Carl Zeiss C/Y manual focus lenses with an adaptor on my EOS60Da. I was not sure if these lenses would foul - but the old aperture couplings just miss the filter ring. Removes the principal low pressure sodium lamp wavelengths (yellow) but the modern high pressure ones have other wavelengths which still transmit through.
