I dithered a bit before buying, being bit concerned about the weight but I needn't have worried, yes they are heavy, but so well balanced in the hand that it's not been an issue for me. The view is very bright and sharp, the separate eyepiece focussing (my main reason for buying) works really well. Stars are pinpoint and the 7x mag and FOV allows really nice and wide night sky viewing. The binoculars are very well armoured, very robust and waterproof, ideal for casual astronomy. Good too for daytime use, the close focus distance seems more like 5m rather than the specified 11m, minimal focussing required. I recommend them highly.
Bought from FLO, delivered by DPD - my favourite courier. These binoculars are heavy duty. They are not light like some roof prism 7x50s, but look rugged and the box says they are marine, so presumably will live within arms reach on a boat. What attracted me to these binoculars are their Japanese lenses. I have 2 other Opticon pairs of binoculars with Japanese lenses, an 8x40 & 10x50. All 3 give clear bright views. The 7x50s here have, as advertised long eye relief, and I had no trouble wearing glasses to see tge 7° field of view. Eye lenses are large, housed in chunky turrets. The latter can be a nose-squeezer, which is where long eye relief is also good.Eyepiece dioptre adjustment was a little stiff as new, but their rubber grips make grasp easy and fine when wearing gloves. These binoculars are good in low light seeing, I bought them for astronomy binocular viewung for which I will use a tripod or monopod. So far so good!
The Pro Series II 7x50 binoculars weigh 1,241g / 43.77oz.
