Transformed my astronomy!
Saturday, 12 July 2014  |

I have wanted an "observing chair" for while but I'm a bit (okay a lot) on the heavy side and the "Skywatcher" offering is designed for fitties not fatties like me. My children bought me this chair for my birthday and I'm delighted with it, it can handle my 20 stone with ease, I particularly like the swivelling seat which makes locating my bulk at the eyepiece very easy. Highly recommended!

Great observing chair
Thursday, 11 October 2012  |

I've just tried out my new Mey observing chair when i had a one hour clear sky last night.
one word, great! so much better than the ironing chair i have used up to now.
A couple of downsides are the weight and the cost, but i can forgive the weight as its so well made and sturdy, i can see it lasting years and a chair of this quality will come at a price.
The one handed operation is smooth and flawless and the height adjustment is perfect. It has two angle/slope adjustments on the seat by use of a side lever.
One of the best features is the seat can twist 45% each way so no more twisted spine.
I don't think you can over estimate the importance of a comfortable seat when observing which is why i splashed out on this great chair. Totally recommended.

Dobsonian
Thursday, 9 August 2012  |

This is a great observing stool.

I use it with a Dobsonian telescope so I had to remove the height restriction bolts to allow it to go nearly down to ground level.

the instructions are in german and do not show pictures of how to operate the height adjustment. There is a handle on the side which one would assume to act like any office chair height adjustment, this is not how you do it. The seat cushion itself is the 'handle'. You simply pull the front edge of the cushion upwards and it unlocks the clamp on the bars, it can then be moved up and down no problem. Once the desired height is found simply push the edge of the seat down to engage the clamp. With one foot on the base this operation is quite simple with one hand.

When set low the bars themselves also double up as a back support if you want to lean backwards (beware they are metal and therefore get cold) otherwise its a good perch stool.
