I just received my StarSharp red filter. First, and most important it looks like the filter will fulfill its primary function well. I must say I was very disappointed that the corners were not really rounded as I had expected. The product description states "Made from 3mm high quality laser-cut red tinted perspex with smooth edges and rounded corners." which is confirmed by looking at the review at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWtfRcRrVbo that also showed corners with what looks like a 12-18mm radius. My item contained hardly any rounding at all (perhaps 1-2mm) with each corner being slightly different and not fully rounded. It looks like it was just sanded/polished with fine grit sandpaper. Not the high quality that I expected. I know the product will function well in the field, which is all that really matters. I just wish the manufacturer wouldn't have "cut corners" in this way because I would have preferred a more professional fit and finish -- which is why I ordered this product instead of just building my own.
I bought this before the size/price options came into play so got quite a bargain on the large piece for my obsy monitor. However, even at the full price for a large screen, this is worthwhile. Many monitors do not allow much backlight reduction, so even when you select a red screen, it is bright (not dim) red and compromises night vision. Using the filter means you lose much less night vision. I added some velcro pads so it could be easily pulled off for normal computer use.
