Model: ae_vari_polariser_1.25
Reduces glare, increases contrast and maintains night vision.
Perfect for observing details on bright objects such as the Moon or certain planets.
A Variable Polarising Filter is essentially two polarising filters, one screwed into the other. Simply rotate one in its cell to reduce brightness from 40% down to as little as 1%.
Manufactured from optical glass with a neutral density (so no false colour) mounted in a machined black-anodised aluminium cell.
The filters can also be used individually for terrestrial daytime observing to reduce sunlight glare from lakes, oceans or window glass.
Available in 1.25” or 2” sizes to fit most astronomy eyepieces and accessories.
Supplied in hard plastic storage case.
Haven't had the chance to use it as a moon filter yet, but it did provide a noticeable reduction in diffraction spikes while viewing Jupiter. Does what it says on the tin!
Ideal for viewing the Moon, cutting as much excess glare as needed. Half the price of most equivalent variable polarisers and equally effective.
Not used it on the moon yet as I've only just bought it and we haven't had one !.... but it seems well made and does what it says on the tin. Simply rotating the two polarised lenses adjusts the amount of light entering the eyepiece. Can be left in place on the eyepiece but the ep has to be removed from my diagonal to re-adjust it. ( I've also ordered a Baader Neodymium filter from FLO as reviews suggest it enhances lunar and planetary contrast/definition.) I'm sure it's obvious but DO NOT use for solar observation! Thanks to all at FLO...I wouldn't use any other supplier. The customer service is second to none 👍🏼
Superb, just what I wanted.
Substantially cheaper than the other more main stream brands but works well and saves your night vision.
I bought this as i was advised to get a variable moon filter, as opposed to one that does not adjust. I can see why they are better obviously, and as its only a couple of quid more than a standard filter i reakon its a good Buy, does what its supposed to, so what more can you say. Just be carefull buying of the auction sites,as there are some cheap rubbish on them, best pay a bit more, and be happy than buy twice so the saying goes.
Much more comfortable for checking out the moon to my eyes. In two seperate parts so you can fit one to your diagonal and the other to the eyepiece so you can adjust the contrast on the fly!
A very well made filter with the advantage over fixed filters of being continuously variable. Nicely packaged and performs very well. Recommended.
