Sky-Watcher Explorer 200p Newtonian reflector telescope on an EQ5 Mount.

“The Explorer 200p passed all our tests with flying colours and was a delight to use optically and mechanically ... The overall stability of the system impressed us: it had a rock-solid mount with the least amount of play in the slow-motion controls. The quality of its views just pushed it ahead of the [Orion Optics - DeLuxe] Europa, giving us a very enjoyable look at all of our test objects. For us, these tipped the balance to bring the Explorer-200P out on top.”  BBC Sky at Night magazine July 09

Parabolic Primary Mirror

All Sky-Watcher f/5 (‘fast’) Newtonian Reflectors and Dobsonian models feature high-quality parabolic primary mirrors to eliminate spherical aberrations inherent in ‘fast’ focal length reflector. The mirrors are parabolised to bring all the light rays to the same focal point to give sharp, contrasty images.

Ultra-Thin Secondary Mirror Supports

All Sky-Watcher f/5 Newtonian Reflectors feature 0.5mm ultra-thin secondary mirror supports to reduce diffraction spikes and loss of contrast.

It also features engraved aluminium setting circles and manual slow motion tracking controls.  An optional polarscope (shown in photo) is available for aiding in polar alignment.

Just amazing!!!
11 October 2021  |

I had spent over a year researching a suitable scope. This is a real winner. Having always been a fan of the refractor scope, I went out of my comfort zone with this, and I am not disappointed. The views of the Moon and Jupiter and it's system are amazing. I just need less clouds! FLO delivered the scope well packaged and very quickly

Excellent

Received this after along time waiting (not flo fault just slow supplies) but was worth the wait. I have other scopes but this skywatcher eq5 combo is this best I've ever had.. Lovey clear crisp images of the moon.. My camera connects directly to it (still need a t-ring to fit camera) with beautiful sharp images to process. The only thing I can fault with this is FLO sent to many free clouds lol.. Well worth the wait and the price.. Thanks guys

Excellent Service

Was fully expecting a wait for delivery and was pleasantly surprised when it got delivered a couple of days later. On the back of the purchase, I had a query regarding carry bags, very well and quickly answered by Dave (I think it was).

I haven't used the telescope in anger yet. Took it out of the box and built it up, just to see what it was like. Looks very well made and sturdy, but it is quite a heavy beast. Probably talking about 30+ Kg in total. If nothing else it will keep me fit taking it down the stairs and back up. Look forward to a clear night to try it out.

Brilliant combo.

This is my first scope and it took me ages to decide between this or the 200p Dob.
I asked lots of questions on the Stargazerslounge forum to help.
I picked this over the Dob mainly because this is easier to track objects with the excellent eq5 mount and the fact that this is also a good platform for taking pictures.
The first night out there wasn't a cloud in sight.Looking up with just my eyes I was eager to see what this scope would find.
My first look was in a random area where I spotted a very bright star. This turned out to be Venus and was incredibly bright through the standard 25mm eyepiece.I then switched to the 10mm one and could see the shape properly and I was hooked.
Being a beginner meant I was just looking randomly and there was just so much to see I was in awe at all the details with the 25mm eyepiece.
The mount was easy to build and the parts fit and finish is excellent.
The scopes collimating only needed slight adjustment to be perfect.
The mount is very stable and handles the weight of the 200p with ease.
The bottom line is that for the money I can't recommend this combo highly enough, and if you want to fit a goto system later then you can.
I can't wait till the next clear night.
