Parabolic Primary Mirror
All Sky-Watcher f/5 (‘fast’) Newtonian Reflectors and Dobsonian models feature high-quality parabolic primary mirrors to eliminate spherical aberrations inherent in ‘fast’ focal length reflector. The mirrors are parabolized to bring all the light rays to the same focal point to give sharp, contrasty images.
Ultra-Thin Secondary Mirror Supports
All Sky-Watcher f/5 Newtonian Reflectors feature 0.5mm ultra-thin secondary mirror supports to reduce diffraction spikes and loss of contrast.
Features
Dimensions: The Sky-Watcher 200p OTA weighs 8.8 kg, has a tube diameter approx 235mm and length approx 920mm.
Note: The Explorer 200P is designed primarily for visual astronomy, for astro-photography consider the Explorer 200P-DS model.
I have had a 200p for 6yrs ,it is a versatile scope as they say a good all rounder good build quality , ,good aperture so good light gathering, good for imaging and visual use ,comes with a finderscope and 1.25 adapter and 2 inch adapter 10mm 25mm eyepieces and a 2x barlow lens ,DSLR easily fitted for prime focus imaging using the correct adapter for your make of camera ,weight wise it is a little on the heavier side but not overly heavy ,but worth noting ,holds collimation well even with constant lugging about during set up ,easily collimated though changing collimation screws toBobs Knobs makes this process easier to accomplish ,if your looking to upgrade from a smaller telescope or looking for a good imaging scope then i would recommend the 200p .
We are often asked this question. Sky-Watcher do not use Pyrex glass for their mirrors. They used to (many years ago), but they now use an alternate low-expansion glass. There is no change in performance. Some retailers still mistakenly use the old 'px' (px for Pyrex) product name. We suspect this is what is causing confusion.
