About this product

Model:  sw_star_discovery_150i
Part Number:  10275

Now with integrated WiFi (dongle no longer required) for wireless control using a smartphone or tablet, via free SynScan App for iOS or Android.

The integrated SynScan Wi-Fi creates its own Wi-Fi network, so the mount can be used anywhere without reliance on other WiFi or mobile networks.

After entering your coordinates into the App and following a simple alignment procedure, you can explore the universe using the App’s intuitive touchscreen menu.

The app provides full computerised GO-TO control, enabling the telescope to be automatically slewed to any of the 10.000+ celestial objects in the extensive database.

It incorporates Sky-Watcher’s patented Freedom-Find dual-encoder technology, which allows the telescope to be moved manually in either axis without losing positional information. This provides the user freedom, convenience and flexibility during observing sessions.

With its useful 150mm (6") aperture and highly regarded parabolic primary mirror, the Star Discovery P150i is a capable all-rounder for observing the Moon, bright planets, nebulae, galaxies and star clusters. It is also easy to carry and transport.

NOTE: The 150i telescope has a non-collimateable primary mirror. Please contact us for more info.

Superb value for money
12 August 2020  |

This arrived within days of the order despite being given a delivery date some weeks away. The boxes are big and it's obvious by weight which one is tripod/mount and which is tube. Be warned the instructions are for the non-wifi version so it details what to with the handset controller rather than the app. I might be wrong but the app (Synscan and Synscan pro) seem far richer in what you can see and do. What would be useful is an LED to indicate that the setup does have power and confirm your batteries are working. To assemble, gently and methodically it took about 15-20 minutes from being unboxed. I also bought a mains power pack as backup rather than keep chomping through AA batteries. The details of how to use the finder scope are sparse as well, with zero mention of the red dot capability...again this might be due to the fact the manual is for the earlier version of this system. Be warned, the tripod and mount is heavy and cumbersome so if using away from the garden or your house I'd advise dismantling rather than fight with weight and balance to move it away. That might sound negative but in truth the niggle are minor. The red dot finder scope is covered adequately on Youtube, and also a channel called Astronomy and Nature TV gives this a cracking review and overview. I used it on my own for he first time last night, had aligned the finder with the tube during the day, used the red dot to align with a very bright Jupiter last night...and then spent 4 hours until 01:00am gazing in awe at Jupiter, Saturn, Lyra, Vega and much more. The 10mm eyepiece views of Jupiter and Saturn were superb, rings, moons and it was thrilling and inspiring. The track capability is brilliant and after one use on my own I am already looking to the next clear night. Highly recommended for starters like me, but you need a bit of persistence to compensate for the poor manual. Top marks for FLO who willingly answer questions , no matter how daft, quickly and politely. My 'goto' place for all future astronomy bits!

Wow. Great service from FLO
01 July 2020  |

Ordered this telescope on a Friday and it arrived at my house the next Tuesday. I couldn’t believe how fast FLO shipped the scope. It arrived well packaged and everything was in great condition.

The scope itself was so easy to setup for a beginner. Took about 5 minutes to unpack and put together. Waiting for a clear night to check it out but so far very impressed.

Sky-Watcher Star Discovery 150i WiFi
16 May 2019  |

The telescope arrived a couple of days after it was ordered great service from FLO as usual, very well packed a wee bit out of collimating but was sorted in a few minutes probably due to travel a wee tweak on the secondary Mirror and it was sorted. Set up the wi fi a couple of minutes got it out that night the moon was out but the sky was very bad hazy so I had a look at the moon and the view was brilliant done the north level alignment and picked two stars whose position I knew even though you couldn’t see any stars just to give a check then I set the go to for the moon and the telescope slewed straight to the moon and had it in the center of the eyepiece, I can’t wait for a clear night to properly try the go to out. I would highly recommend this scope. Excellent service from FLO Thank you
