I really liked using this kit. It is rapidly deployable and the SynScan software is well designed. Zipping around the sky and visiting all manner of objects presented it with no challenges. It lends itself well as the choice of a first instrument, too. Astronomy Now Magazine, January 2018 - Read full review

Sky-Watcher SkyMax-102 with NEW AZ GTi WiFi Mount.

The Skymax-102 telescope, with its high-contrast Maksutov-Cassegrain optics, is particularly well suited to observing solar system targets like the Moon, Jupiter and Saturn. Several deep-sky objects are also within its reach.

The easy-to-use AZ-GTi Wi-Fi mount features a built-in WiFi module, enabling it to be controlled wirelessly via your Smartphone or Tablet using Sky-Watcher's free SynScan App for iOS or Android.

Together the mount and App provide full computerised GO-TO.

It also features Sky-Watcher’s Freedom-Find™ patented dual-encoder technology, so your telescope can be moved manually in either axis without the mount losing its positional information - which is convenient  :-)

Includes an adjustable aluminium tripod with an extension pillar and accessory tray. The mount can also be removed and fitted to other suitable photo-tripods with standard 3/8" screw fitting.

Portable Goto Scope
31 October 2022  |

This is my second scope from FLO. I wanted something more portable and liked the idea of a goto / tracking mount to complement my 8" dob.

As always brilliant service from FLO; some great advice from the team; well packaged and delivered in a couple of days. Clouds arrived a day or so later, so I actually had chance to try the scope out on the same day!

Very easy scope and mount to set up. It is very portable, the mount is stable for a scope of this size.

The AZ-GTi mount and software on my phone is easy to set up use; connected straight away to the mount; alignment is fairly straight forward.

For visual use this little scope is great; it's a shame the supplied eyepieces aren't better quality; I had some better quality ones for my other scope, otherwise I would recommend upgrades.

Great views of the planets, easily making our some surface features and bands on Jupiter, and Saturn was also clear, with the Cassini division flicking in and out of view.

For astrophotography (I am just a beginner) the tracking is good enough for me to have some good shots of Jupiter, Saturn and Mars. I have also managed to pick out Neptune.

If you are after a portable goto with flexibility to do a bit of astrophotography on a budget I would recommend.
