Plugs into the mount's handset port (via one of the supplied RJ12 -> RJ45 or RJ45 -> RJ45 cables) to provide wireless control from a smartphone or tablet using the SynScan or SynScan Pro app or, from a PC via ASCOM.
No batteries are required as the operating current is provided by the mount. (Please note the EQ6 PRO should be connected to the Wi-Fi Adaptor Module using the hand control cable originally supplied with the mount).
Creates it’s own Wi-Fi network, so the mount can be used anywhere without reliance on other Wi-Fi or mobile networks. After entering your coordinates into the relevant Synscan App and following a simple alignment procedure - you are ready to explore the universe using the App’s intuitive touchscreen menus.
Also supports the SkySafari Plus/Pro mobile planetarium App for Android and iOS (Please note that iOS connectivity at time of writing is currently limited and two devices are required).
The SynScan App and SynScan Pro App now support ASCOM for slewing, GOTO and Pulse Guiding. The Sky-Watcher ASCOM telescope driver can be downloaded from www.skywatcher.com.

Got for an eq5. Can't get it to work with sky safari. Works with skywatcher app but does drop out and you need to reconnect.

Skywatcher Synscan Wifi Adapter

Purchased this for my 10 year old 127mm AZ tracking telescope to give more functionality and tracking ability, was not sure whether it would work with this unit, but after discussions with Alex at First light optics decided to purchase as trial. Works very well so far and I am very happy with the purchase and service received.

Coupled with the Synscan Pro App, (download from Play Store) this is an excellent no nonsense way of setting up your scope especially for long exposure astrophotography. Star alignment is much easier with the app than the Skywatcher handset. Good responsive control of the mount and excellent star alignment. Just the job. My only niggle, is having to restart my smartphone for the app to recognise the wifi adapter. Great price and fast delivery from FLO.
Sky-Watcher SynScan WiFi Adapter

Ordered, despatched, received all in a really short time from FLO.
Once you get your head around this WiFi adapter being just like another WiFi router, it's really easy to understand the brief instructions, otherwise the instructions can be a bit short. The device can be used as either connected to a home WiFi or out in the field as a standalone item, so understanding that these two options are mutually exclusive is key.
Once configured and talking to an iPad using the SkyWatcher software, the GoTo mount is really easy to align and move.

Frustrated that I bought this to use for PC but only found instructions for Mobile. Even then the instructions were wrong asking to look for a Synscan Wifi network. A user on the internet had said his showed up with the ID 'ESP...'. Thats what was showing up for me. I connected to that on my mobile and it worked. On trying to connect on the PC I had the Synscan App Mobile driver installed and it was working and could connect but the Syn Scan App would not connect. It kept asking for location to be set and even when it was it kept reverting to look for a sensor and permission to access location-though nowhere was there anything to allow that. To reset the adapter you have to leave it for an hour unused, what a time waster. I was in the process of writing an email to FLO and almost asking for a refund when I wondered if Location permissions would be assumed if I ran the program as Windows Administrator (Right click over the program in its installation folder). Nope but still it let me connect to the ESP wifi and it worked and found the device without me needing to put in an IP address. I tried slewing the mount using the in app functions and the mount moved so finally got it working. Problem is I can't use the internet on my PC while connected to the Wifi adapter. The PC app doesn't allow entry of Access Points or a Station like with the mobile app. How do I update to the latest firmware? I had to go to the Skywatcher Accessories download site and download the WiFi Firmware updater (3 years old v1.07 !). Then run the program, select the Firmware file and update, restart the mount. The default WiFi still showed up as 'ESP..' but what else can I do? I changed the WiFi network name and password in the Android App. What a crazy system. If the instructions were correct, the device had the latest firmware and the SynScan Windows app allowed internet access then that would have got more stars.

Bought to replace hand controller and cable. Went straight in, connected straight away and works well with the app, even linked to skysafari no problem. Only downside is cable could be a bit longer, cant be good hanging diwn

Plugged it in and so far itís working fine, I find it easier to control the telescope via the phone than the wired control, it automatically sets the time and latitude, longitude, I would recommend the product and the delivery was very quick
Sky-Watcher SynScan WiFi Adapter

I purchased the SynScan wifi adapter to use on my SynScan EQ5 mount, via my Windows PC, on which I have installed the Cartes Du Ceil Planetarium. The installation instructions included with the wifi adapter provide guidance only for use with either an IOS or Android Smartphone! But NO instructions for a PC, this lack of information resulted in me having to watch numerous 'Youtube' clips (some more than once), on how to connect the wifi adapter to a PC, I eventually found out, that I required two downloads from the SkyWatcher web site. The down loads required being : - Windows Program : SynScan Pro App, version 1.19, and Ascom Driver for SynScan App version 1.3.0. After which the wifi adapter finally worked. Had the instruction sheet contained this information it would have saved a lot of time and frustration, and I would have awarded the wifi adapter 5 stars and not 3..!
