Plugs into the mount's handset port (via one of the supplied RJ12 -> RJ45 or RJ45 -> RJ45 cables) to provide wireless control from a smartphone or tablet using the SynScan or SynScan Pro app or, from a PC via ASCOM.
No batteries are required as the operating current is provided by the mount. (Please note the EQ6 PRO should be connected to the Wi-Fi Adaptor Module using the hand control cable originally supplied with the mount).
Creates it’s own Wi-Fi network, so the mount can be used anywhere without reliance on other Wi-Fi or mobile networks. After entering your coordinates into the relevant Synscan App and following a simple alignment procedure - you are ready to explore the universe using the App’s intuitive touchscreen menus.
Also supports the SkySafari Plus/Pro mobile planetarium App for Android and iOS (Please note that iOS connectivity at time of writing is currently limited and two devices are required).
The SynScan App and SynScan Pro App now support ASCOM for slewing, GOTO and Pulse Guiding. The Sky-Watcher ASCOM telescope driver can be downloaded from www.skywatcher.com.

Plugged it in and so far itís working fine, I find it easier to control the telescope via the phone than the wired control, it automatically sets the time and latitude, longitude, I would recommend the product and the delivery was very quick
Sky-Watcher SynScan WiFi Adapter
Wednesday, 26 August 2020 | Peter
I purchased the SynScan wifi adapter to use on my SynScan EQ5 mount, via my Windows PC, on which I have installed the Cartes Du Ceil Planetarium. The installation instructions included with the wifi adapter provide guidance only for use with either an IOS or Android Smartphone! But NO instructions for a PC, this lack of information resulted in me having to watch numerous 'Youtube' clips (some more than once), on how to connect the wifi adapter to a PC, I eventually found out, that I required two downloads from the SkyWatcher web site. The down loads required being : - Windows Program : SynScan Pro App, version 1.19, and Ascom Driver for SynScan App version 1.3.0. After which the wifi adapter finally worked. Had the instruction sheet contained this information it would have saved a lot of time and frustration, and I would have awarded the wifi adapter 5 stars and not 3..!
Has great potential, but sometimes has a mind of its own

I really like the synscan handset. I have been using it for so long it's almost second nature.
The WiFi dongle appealed to me as I liked the idea of using an iPad to control the scope and also my laptop. From a laptop point of view it would allow me to control the scope without taking up a USB port.
The device is super easy to setup. It has 2 modes of operation. By default you can setup an ad-hoc network between the device and the dongle. When operating in this mode you do not have access to your normal network (if working at home). It can also be configured to station mode and made part of your home network. I opted for the latter option only to discover my router is too far from my observation spot to maintain an effective connection (to be fair my phone worked better than my old tablet), I opted back to the point point mode and connection was perfect.
The controlling app is great - lots of options and the "tonights best" feature is very good.
Alignment works well - I have used three star and brightest star - I prefer 3 star. One small point I have noticed is that when you use a tablet and visually align you have to take your eye away from the eyepiece to centre the target - the handset has the advantage of having tactile buttons. For imaging from the laptop this is not an issue.
On my first few uses I was unable to point the scope and target close to the zenith. M101 and m51 were good examples. I fixed this by adjusting the elevation limits (these do not appear to be active on the handset).
9 times out of 10 the mount will do as it's told. Randomly, however it will slew in completely the wrong direction. For example, in June M13 was pretty high in the sky. I was point flawless at targets until I selected M13. The scope slewed the wong way and was intent on point to the ground. There have been a few other examples where that has happened. Pressing stop and telling it to go to another target brings everything back on target. I am wondering if this is a combination of elevation and the object being close to the meridian - I'll play more in the darker evenings.
So overall I'm reasonably impressed with the dongle, The lack of darkness of summer evenings does not really allow for experimentation, so I suspect perseverance under darker skies will let me solve the last few issues.

Great, works like a charm and very small.
Install downloaded Synscan on a laptop / phone and set app location. Plug this wifi adapter into your turned off mount directly, power on mount, wait a moment, check your polling wifi list for the relevant broadcasting 'synscan' wifi adapter and hey-presto connect to it. Make sure you have Ascom's 'Synscanmobile telescope' downloaded free from Skywatcher site to be able to connect wirelesssly to your mount in Phd2 etc so it's available in telescope chooser as an option. Definately reduces wire usage! 5 Stars.

This product was delivered really quickly as usual. Easy to set up, totally speeds set up time. No longer tied to the Synscasn handset, or wired to lengthy cables using ASCOM drivers. (NB you can still connect and operate ASCOM devices/software etc through this adapter.) To date its been cloudy BUT setting up to solar view (with filter) was a breeze. Attached a DSLR for the experiment. Slewed to the sun and was not far off at all. Really looking forward to using this when some darker clearer skies return. You tube videos state that its enhanced the EQ5 mounts performance significantly. Recommend this product- absolutely....even for the fact you're less likely to trip over cables in the dark.....
Works well with my HEQ5 Pro so far

It seemed like a step backwards when I bought my secondhand HEQ5 PRO and had to use a hand controller! Hence I bought this WIFI device (which I received earlier this week). This gadget enables me to use the mount in a similar flexible way as my AZGTI mount (in EQ mode), which is good.
In addition to your device (an Android phone in my case) with the SynScan Pro App on it I have been simultaneously using a PC with PHD2 and also All Sky Plate Solver running (off the top of my head I think thanks to the ASCOM toolset). This is achieved by connecting to the same WiFi that this gadget broadcasts.
I believe that I could have run the app on the PC too, but chose to have it on a separate device to date.

Works fine. Allows me to control my mount from well within the house. Well worth it as the Skyscan Pro software is very easy to use, replacing the handset.

Easy to fit and gets rid of the handset and cable that came with your mount. Download the free SynScan app to your phone/tablet and off you go. Using the app with the wifi adapter makes it much easier and quicker to align your telescope. Well worth the money. Once again delivery was super quick from FLO.
I replaced all my handsets with these!

This makes the whole synscan handset redundant. The app on IOS is so much easier to use IMHO and makes the polar alignment that much quicker and simpler too. I would say the Celestron app is way ahead though but none the less, I bought another one to replace both my synscan handsets as the functionality of the synscan app is all there.
