Model: skywatcher-eq6r-pro-20855Part Number: 20855
The new EQ6-R Pro Synscan builds upon the legendary EQ6 Pro mount with a slew of new features that will appeal to astro-imagers!
Includes Sky-Watcher's computerised Synscan™ GOTO handset which enables you to point your telescope to 42,000+ night sky objects, or tour the skies at the touch of a button.
EQ6-R PRO vs NEQ6 PRO:
The EQ6-R has a higher payload, is belt driven (reduces backlash and improves guiding) has a redesigned body with a carry handle (easier to transport and setup) and improved latitude adjustment (more sturdy and effective over a wider range of latitudes). It uses an RJ45 plug for the handset connection (better than the DSUB used by the EQ6, especially in the dark!) and a screw-on power connector (more secure and reliable than the NEQ6 PRO's push-fit power connector). It also features a USB port and a new 'SNAP' camera control port so you can fire a DSLR camera automatically from the mount.

Even though listed as out of stock but more expected soon. The EQ6-R was processed and delivered ahead of schedule...both boxes delivered in good condition to my location in south La., USA... mount assembled and tested without any problems... Thanks to the folks at FLO !!
Delivery was rapid & parcel tracking worked well. Product packing is excellent. Assembly is straight forward, but this is a hefty mount so handling is best done with 2 people. All the components wrked as described. I am so far trying to work out how to put this mount on a pre-existing concrete pillar inside my existing dome.
A must have instrument for astrophotography lovers, yet to try but somehow, you feel complete.. Thanks to FLO for always keeping stock on hand👍🏻
After a year or so of using an Ioptron Skyguider Pro to track objects for astrophotography, I made finally took the leap to buy a Goto mount, and went for the EQ6-R PRO for its reliability and weight carrying capacity. Don't get me wrong, the Skyguider Pro is an absolute gem of a portable startracker, and manages brilliantly with my RedCat51 system allowing 5 min exposures. But I wanted a goto to allow me to rapidly centre the subject I was imaging onto the middle of the camera chip, as it can take me up to an hour to get things right with the Skyguider and with imaging time at a apremium these days, especially with the weather......The EQ6-R is simple to set up straight from the box, and the instructions are good and clear enough to get up and running easily. It's a solid bit of kit, that will keep you kit lifting about, and is therefore really stable when set up on the tripod. Out of the box the polar scope was aligned, and everything ran quiet and smooth. Was taking 5 min exposures on my first night, with pin point stars all the way to the edge of the field of view. The added bonus of having the ability to dither between captures makes a huge difference to the quality of the final captured image. Mount easily copes with my 150 mm refractor, and now I just can't wait for some clear skies during galaxy season.....A great mount that I'm looking forward to using a lot in the future. Finally - The Team at FLO were excellent, as usual, rapidly answering my questions and I was unpacking the box within 48 hours of placing my order. My Goto astrokit supplier.
I didnt want to buy a smaller mount only just to upgrade it a year later, so after reading plenty of forums and watching you tube videos I decided to go with the EQ6R Pro.I am so glad I went with the R even if only for the handle!, this thing weights a tonne and I think I would struggle if it did not have the carry handle. It is very easy to setup and once in place it is solid, probably mainly due to its weight, The finish and construction is top notch. It comes with nice solid foam packaging which you can keep, buy a OKLOP bag for it and end up with a good travel/storage solution.I havent tried the synscan controller as I am using it through kstars for the guiding and goto with the USB port.I have only used it a few times but I am getting great results guiding even with a huge sky watcher 250PDS, 50ED guide scope and DSLR hanging off it. I do need to use the extension bar though so could probably do with an extra weight.Overall very pleased with it and the great service from FLO
As I type this review, I'm going through first light with my recently delivered EQ6-R Pro. Compared to my EQM35-Pro, the difference in performance is quite apparent. Though almost twice as heavy and obviously more difficult to carry out to the yard, the extra work was absolutely worth it. I polar aligned significantly faster than I do the EQM-35, and balancing was also much easier because the EQ6-R isn't as stiff as the EQM-35. This is a solid mount all around. It's heavy, it's constructed extremely well, and paired with my ASIair Plus, it's simple to use and control. And as I continue this review, I've taken 20 x 5 minute subs on the Rosette Nebula. AUTO GUIDING HAS BEEN DREAMY, consistently under 1" and even as low as 0.5"! Not a single bad sub so far. I seldom saw this level of accuracy with the EQM-35. Now I see why most of the astrophotography community heavily emphasizes spending a majority of one's budget on the mount. When it comes to setting up, this is the easiest night I've had in a very long time. I look forward to more nights like this now that I have a solid, reliable, accurate GoTo mount. I should have gone with this mount from the start.A special thanks to FLO for the impressively quick international shipping. Be advised that this mount ships in two separate boxes. One will house the tripod and counterweights, while the other houses the mount head and all other accessories. By no fault of FLO, my boxes were delivered two days apart. For some reason, customs took two days to clear my box with the mount head. On the bright side, my first box was delivered from the UK to the southwestern US just three days after FLO sent it off! Shipment was sent on 12/31. Box 1 was delivered on 1/3, and box 2 was delivered on 1/5. Impressively fast international shipping, so thank you!
Considering that I live in the place made famous by Bugs Bunny ('I kknew I shouda made that left turn at Albuquerque!')', I'm totally impressed that I was able to order and receive this impossible -to -find 'gotta get go-to' mount in a week's time. This mount is wonderful, and the service from FLO was top notch. The shipment did get split up, with the tripod package delayed , but I contacted customer service and Ann responded right away, saying that she got the shipper moving that package again--arriving two days after the mount. The mount works perfectly, and I was able to capture some very nice pictures of M42 and Comet C/2021 A1 (Leonard) that evening and the next morning running the mount on Green Swamp Server. I still need to see how the mount performs with my RC8 OTA, but I'm anticipating that imagery will be rock-steady, compared to my tired old second hand CG5 mount this replaces. The slewing is quick and quiet. I haven't tested out Synscan-based operations, since I am mostly computer-based (I love plate solving). A fellow local astronomer recommended I check out FLO, and I'm glad I did--I really wasn't looking forward to waiting for a system back-ordered as far as November, 2022 most places in the States.
Not had much chance to use the EQ6-R Pro yet, but service and shipping from FLO were top notch as always. Courier even delivered it over the weekend rather than the Monday when they originally said! What I have used of this mount, it's extremely solid and well worth every penny!
Thankfully. no more manual slewing or shakings due to overload. This thing works like a charm with APT and plate solving with ASPS never been so accurate. Came in tact all the way to Saudi Arabia with great packaging (TY FLO). I just dont understand why this comes in with a car plug and no home cord. Most of us do backyard/rooftop astro photography nowadays so it makes sense to have a way to operate it at home. I had to get a 15v used toshiba laptop charger and pair it with a car lighter plug of 10amps. Soon to get an SCT and cooled camera and i wont go anywhere else other than FLO.
Wel worth the wait, arrived safely unpacked and assembled. Polarscope already aligned with the polar axis which is a plus. A little worried about the weight of the head, but manageable with care. Great service from Flo as always.
