"This is one of the jewels in the Sky-Watcher’s crown. Its large enough to produce richly detailed, high-contrast Lunar and Planetary images…The Skymax-127 packs a performance punch with a relatively short cool-down time….For daytime terrestrial use, the instrument is quite capable of focusing down to 8 metres"

Really pleased with this scope with which I have rekindled my astronomy bug. The scope itself has excellent clarity and is definitely up to scratch. The weak points are the 10mm eyepiece and the 6x30 finder. I replaced these with a 9mm Celestron eyepiece and a telrad finder. The later making the finding your alignment star a piece of cake. I am also going to replace the diagonal and Barlow as well as the 25mm eyepiece when I place my next order with FLO as the service was second to none. Clear skies

First telescope
Tuesday, 27 July 2021  |

To be honest at this time I have not become fully familiar with the 127. Never having owned a telescope like this I am a bit bewildered by the language and technical references. I have looked at reviews and the scope seems to come out very well for clarity and compactness for it's power at a reasonable price. I am interested in capturing images and looking at buying a dedicated camera. Perhaps in a few months I will have a better feel for the scope. The only thing I would say at the moment is that I found aligning the finder scope a bit tedious. I noticed that this model comes with a red dot finder. Not sure if this would be easier to set up.

My first telescope been wanting one for 35 years. Was recommended this by a friend and i am very pleased with it. Still waiting for a clear night to get out but its giving me the chance to get used to setting it up. Cant fault FLO for there customer service. I clicked the button for let me know when back in stock and got email when it was availiable. Ordered on Friday was due for delivery on the Monday. But due to very bad weather i got it on the Tuesday. Was kept updated with the tracking of it. Dont think i will have any problems with using it. Plenty of things to watch on U Tube if you have a problem setting it up.

Skywatcher Skymax 127

Very easy to use and gives excellent views as well. Whether planetary or for Deep Space it gives excellent views for a telescope of its szie. Highly recommended for those who would like an all round performer as a pick up and go telescope. Would recommend getting the Skywatcher PowerTank which allows full remote location operation.

Great bit of kit and Service
Thursday, 26 June 2014  |

This is my first "goto" telescope and it is awesome, I bought it mainly for taking photos of the moon and planets and it works like a dream.
I bought the Skywatcher PowerTank 7Ah as stated buy others as using normal AA batteries can be abit hit and miss. I also bought the "Aluminium Case for Skymax 150" which fits the telescope and lenses, bits etc. perfectly, however it doesn't fit the tripod or goto motor which is what I expected. The "Nikon T Ring" all fits perfectly to my Nikon D5100 DSLR. I'm a very happy chappy

Excellent first scope
Sunday, 18 May 2014  |

Had this about a year now. Telescope is great, but the included battery pack is a bit of a waste of time so I'd budget another 50 for a power tank. I found running on AA batteries the scope was unreliable and star alignment problematic. With the power tank it's faultless. I only gave 4* for this reason. The optics are superb, great views of Jupiter and Saturn and great lunar detail. Also terrestrial viewing is amazingly clear. Screw a digital slr on the back and you can get some great shots using it as a powerful zoom.

School astronomy club
Saturday, 19 October 2013  |

I bought the Skymax 127 AZ Goto for the local school astronomy club and have been testing it this week.
Optics are superb, very crisp views of the moon.
Extremely easy to set up and very lightweight, which is important for the novice users at school.
Just waiting for the astro-video camera to arrive to test it for lunar and planetary imaging, but I have high hopes.
