Great views and very convenient
27 March 2021  |

I liked the idea of a zoom for splitting doubles and finding optimal magnification for framing an object. So much more convenient than swapping loads of eyepieces, especially with a non-motorised mount.

I'm only a novice observer but compared the views against 25 mm and 10 mm tele vue plossls and didn't notice much difference in the quality and contrast of the image.

Combined with a baader q Barlow I have a great high mag eyepiece for lunar and planetary views.

Super quick delivery from FLO.

Very Good

I have only been able to use this eyepiece briefly twice due to the weather but it seems very good.
As others have reported it was quite stiff to adjust the zoom but I gave it a few twists before putting it into a eyepiece holder and it has been fine since.
Good sharp image across the fov and only needing a slight focusing adjustment when going from 'wide angle' to 'tele'.
Shame it didn't come with a protective tube or pouch so I knocked off a star for that.

Hyperflex zoom eyepiece

Only used once due to cloud. A sliver of a setting waxing moon in twilight was very sharp. Zoom mechanism was very smooth, I did need to adjust focus very slightly as I zoomed in or out, but this was very easy to do. The colours of the two components of Alberio were very clear. Worked well with the Baader Classic Q Barlow. Eye relief seemed pretty good . If we ever have star parties or public events again this will be just the job for finding and setting up targets

Very good indeed

I bought this EP for 2 reasons:
1 As a travel EP to cova range of focal lengths.
2. To use with my Lunt Herschel wedge.
So far I've only used it with the wedge for white light solar paired with my ED 80.
The zoom function is very smooth and remains parfocal throughout with the exception of the 7.1. The eyecup rotates up with 3 solid clicks.
The image is sharp throughout.
Overall I'm really pleased with the quality and price. Fast delivery from FLO too.

Good but could be better!
01 May 2019  |

I use this eyepiece primarily for solar white light and Hydrogen Alpha observing. This inevitably requires the use of screw on filters which is a pain when switching between eyepieces of fixed focal length hence this item provides a solution. It provides me with more than satisfactory views whilst removing the need to move filters between eyepieces. The views are at least as good as the Revelation plossls I was using previously. So why 4 stars and not 5? Well I was disappointed at how stiff the zoom action is, I get there needs to be some resistance but I have to hold the eyepiece in two places to be able to zoom at all. It has loosened up a bit over the 4 weeks since I bought it and is a little better now but still stiffer than I would have liked. Overall though the views are good and I no longer have to switch eyepieces or move filters between them.
