Calibration of a wavelength spectrum requires observing the spectrum of a calibration light - ie a light with many emission lines whose wavelength is perfectly known. Such a lamp can be placed in front of the telescope, but the Alpy Calibration Module is easy to use, and therefore allows great productivity.
The calibration module incorporates an Argon-Neon lamp, whose spectrum is well known:
The calibration module also incorporates a flat lamp (halogen lamp, with a continuous spectrum).

When one of the lamps is lit, a small screen is placed in the telescope beam (controlled by a servo motor): the calibration or flat light then illuminates the slot of the spectroscope under conditions very close to the telescope .
In addition, you can turn off the lights and leave the screen in place, which obstructs the beam of the telescope: you can make dark images without having to obstruct the telescope.
The calibration module must be powered with 12V - 1A minimum.
The set is remotely controllable: two connectors allow each lamp to be controlled separately (a 12V voltage on these connectors has the same effect as activating the switches).
