As always, outstanding customer service. Item arrived in perfect condition two days after placing order. The eyepiece was actually a customer return but, as stated in the description, was in perfect condition. As expected, the eyepiece also came packaged with a weeks worth of cloudy weather so haven't done much testing on it yet. I did get a few gaps in the clouds and managed some solar activity. Seeing conditions weren't ideal but I was very impressed with the quality of the image. Good field of view and sharp to the edges as best I could tell on the day. Will add an update once I've had some clearer skies.
I bought this StellaLyra 5mm 1.25" LER Planetary Eyepiece (along with an upgrade Astro Essentials 2-speed focuser) for my 1-year-old Skywatcher 200p - It is amazing what an improvement over the standard lenses this is. Jupiter is bright and clear with the bands clearly visible
I bought this to replace a plossl and wow what a difference. Like all Stellalyra kit the build quality is superb and at a great price point.
An excellent eyepiece in every respect. I use it in an 8",F/6 Newton telescope and it gives an excellent picture from wall to wall at 240x magnification. Thanks, FLO! 🙂
I was looking for an eyepiece with greater eye relief for observing while wearing glasses and I thought that I would test this out and at the same time, I chose to buy one with higher magnification to enable me to 'pull in' the planets a little. From my fairly short time with this eyepiece, I consider it well made and a really worthwhile first step up from the eyepieces supplied with my telescope. The greater eye relief works well for me with glasses and I would seriously consider buying another lens from this series. I had the opportunity to compare it to another eyepiece of similar specification but of 6x the cost, yes the more expensive one is slightly sharper and has a slightly greater field of view but I do think that diminishing returns 'kick in' and I would have to think hard about whether I need any more than the StellaLyra has on offer.
