I purchased this new and installed it on my TSA-120.

The 'reaction arm' is too thin and bends causing the focuser to be inaccurate.

After a couple uses, the screws securing it to the ota worked loose. I tightened them and they kept coming loose again.

I sold it and purchased a Starlight instruments feather touch which broke. I received a replacement part from Starlight and seems OK so far.

Like virtually every piece of Takahashi equipment I've ever bought the MEF-3 focuser is beautifully engineered. It was a close call as to whether I needed this for my FOA-60 which has an excellent stock focuser. Except at the very high magnifications that the FOA-60 was designed to be able to operate at where I find it quite difficult to achieve that last soupçon of fine focus. With the MEF-3 that frustrating uncertainty is removed. But why is the extra expense necessary?

Takahashi should include the MEF-3 on all their fine (but not particularly 'cheap') telescopes as standard.

This is a nice improvement over an already excellent stock focuser. Very easy to fit and gives super fine control. Very pleased.

Beautifully made, very smooth and simple to fit. Included is a little tool for removing the original screw, I had to use this again when reassembling as the one that came in the kit is slightly too long.
Everyone says that the fine focuser is 7:1, even Takahashi, but it takes eight full turns to turn the large wheel 360 degrees, isn't this 8:1 ?. Just wish it was fitted as standard.

After my first use of the dual speed focuser, I’m very happy with the purchase. It was simple to fit and greatly enhances my observing experience. I use an FC100DC Tak with a Baader Mk IV zoom (most of the time) and you need to slightly adjust the focus to allow for shift between magnifications. This makes it much easier to nail the focus quickly, I don’t know why they’er not fitted as standard. Excellent service and speed of delivery from FLO, thanks everyone!
