Looking at all the available options for getting my Celestron Nexstar 8 safely to Astro meetings/dark(er) sky locations etc left me with limited choices.
First was use the original box and padding - cheap but not practical to carry without both hands. Second, purchase a fantastic wheels suitcase which takes scope AND goto mount still attached - I’m not travelling through an airport anywhere with a large metal tube nor will the wheels work well on a grass and mud field.
So the obvious solution was to find a padded bag or large enough back pack. And this absolutely fills both categories. The scope easily loads into it. There is a dedicated pouch too for the attached red dot finder scope ( or alternative ) so you can leave it attached if you want. I can then use either the superb interlocking handles for one hand carry OR even better use the rucksack shoulder straps to put this on my back. I then have both hands free to carry the mount in one hand and the tripod legs in the other. And scope accessories? They fit nicely in the top zippped round storage area.
It’s a win. And a great price win too ( just look up the cost of the second item I mentioned). 5 stars is insufficient. There should be 10.

I just took delivery of this bag. I recently purchased a Nexstar 8se and needed someay to carry the OTA. I purchased this and couldnt be happier. Nicely padded and well stitched. The zips seem quite strong and the ability to have the weight on my back/shoulders will make transporting the scope far easier. Highly recommended.
