About this product

Model:  telrad-finder

The Telrad finder is the original and best selling reflex finderscope.

This simple, functional and accurate finder for a telescope is much easier to use than a conventional finder-scope.

It projects a set of circles 0.5 degrees, 2 degrees, and 4 degrees, that enable you to align your telescope on objects in the sky.

You can also use the circles to star-hop from one object to another. I.e. if a galaxy is 8 degrees away from a star, you simply count two 4-degree circles.

Two AA batteries will typically last 1-2 years.

Supplied with a universal base plate that can be attached via screw holes or the included sticky pads.

"We loved the view through the Telrad and everything worked without fuss" BBC Sky at Night Magazine

The Telrad finder is also popular with those working with stage lighting because, using a Telrad, follow-spot light operators can point with precision.

Features / spec':

  • Large unmagnified screen displays 1/2, 2 and 4 degree illuminated red circles.
  • Finder circles provide easy reference to star charts.
  • Makes star hopping fast, fun and easy.
  • Includes an adjustable brightness control
  • Easy mounting with the included detachable bracket
  • Compatible with virtually any size and make of telescope
  • Use with additional finder scope or other astronomy equipment

Really Good

Bought to use on my 8" Dob, sits nicely next to my finderscope on the tube, allowing me to still use both. Quite light for it's size but also quite large, get the feeling it could easily have been made smaller.
Does it's job really well and makes navigating the night sky to find those almost invisble objects much easier than just using a regular finderscope.
Like most astrophotography tools/equipment however, you can't help but notice that you seem to be paying a premium to make your life easier rather than just paying a fair price for the product itself (NOT FLO's fault, it's the same everywhere with all types of astro equipment). Does not look or feel like it should cost £40, £20 max, but you'll never find one for that price.

A great time saving tool

I didn't replace my finderscope, I just stuck this on next to it. It's a great time saver. Not having a go-to scope, this makes everything so much easier to find. I am currently working my way through the Messier objects and being able to plonk the scope in the right area immediately and then use the finderscope to locate them precisely is so much simpler for an amateur like me!

Happy Customer

I had problems with the starfinder that came with my Celestron Evolution scope. It was fiddly and difficult to align with the scope.

The Telrad is a breath of fresh air. Easy to fit and really quick to align with the scope. Wish I had bought one earlier

This is an excellent Light Weight that fits easily onto my refractor. Although surprisingly large, it is not a problem and I highly recommend it

Great finders
Monday, 18 February 2019  |

I have two of these one for a CPC8 I use for outreach and the other for my new LX850 12".

I had a problem with getting the base to adhere to the stipple effect OTA on the Meade, so I bought some Gorilla tape...problem solved.

Good, solid construction and very easy to find desired target. Much better than the finder on the Celestron 130EQ.

At last

I read a lot of reviews on the Telrad before I bought and they were spot on. My finder scope is useless in comparison. Ordered from FLO who had the best price and delivery time and they were bang on the money. Thanks
