Product Availability

Our website is regularly updated. However, we cannot guarantee availability. Orders placed outside our office hours (10.00 am - 4 pm Mon-Fri UK time) may be subject to change. We will contact you as soon as possible if this is the case. If you place an especially high-value order, we reserve the right to contact you for further confirmation of your order details prior to authorisation. 

Prices

Prices are in GBP and include VAT where applicable. 

VAT is deducted at the Checkout for non-UK customers. 

Payment

We accept payment in GBP.

Our website accepts Visa, MasterCard and Paypal.

All credit and debit card transactions are processed using secure online payment systems provided by SagePay - the UK's largest independent Payment Service Provider. 

If ordering from outside the UK, your payment provider will charge for currency conversion, so the price paid might be a 'little' different. The same is true for refunds. 

Please contact us if you wish to pay by Cash or Bank Transfer (bank transfers in GBP only). 

UK Deliveries

Orders are dispatched when complete.

If an item is in stock and we receive your order before 3 pm, we normally dispatch it on the same day or the next working day. 

Deliveries usually arrive via DPD or Royal Mail in 1-3 working days.

The delivery cost is usually £3-6 for small items, around £9 for medium items, and £16+ for heavy, multi-box items.

Deliveries to remote locations sometimes incur higher charges. 

Saturday delivery is available for most UK mainland addresses if the order is placed before midday Friday. (If available for your location, it will be offered during checkout - an additional charge is applied).

Please note we do not deliver to PO Boxes, hotels, freight forwarding companies or BFPO addresses (couriers rarely have permission to enter military establishments). 

International Deliveries

Orders are dispatched when complete.

VAT is deducted at the Checkout for non-UK customers. ​

The delivery charge is calculated automatically during the checkout process. 

We sometimes need an additional 1-2 days to prepare an item for dispatch to non-UK locations. 

Deliveries via Courier to locations outside the UK usually arrive in 2-5 working days. (Deliveries via Royal Mail require more time, sometimes 1-2 weeks). 

Orders delivered to non-UK addresses - this includes EU countries - will be subject to import duties and taxes when the package reaches your country. FLO is not responsible for these charges, and we cannot predict what they might be, so we recommend you contact your local Customs office for further information. 

Deliveries to Norway: To qualify for the normal Norwegian Customs process, orders for delivery to Norway must have at least one item valued at 3000 NOK (approximately £240) or higher. If it does not, then the order will be cancelled and refunded. We are working on a convenient website solution for this.​

Notes Regarding Delivery

If your order is sent by courier, the courier company will attempt delivery twice. Then, after five days, the goods will be returned to us if you have not contacted them. 

Items delivered via courier require a signature on delivery. The driver will deliver to a neighbour if they have your permission but will not "leave in green bin" or "behind the shed". 

The packages and contents should be inspected as soon as possible after delivery. If an item arrives damaged, please report it immediately to the courier and First Light Optics. If reported in a reasonable time, we will endeavour to replace damaged goods as soon as possible. 

Returns and Cancellation

When you buy goods through www.firstlightoptics.com, you have the same rights as when purchasing from a regular shop or showroom. In addition, you are entitled to a fourteen-day 'cooling off' period as described in the 'Consumer Contracts Regulations'. 

We want you to be delighted with your purchase, so if you are unhappy, please return it within 30 days of receiving the item.  We will then exchange, replace or refund at your request, subject to the following conditions: 

  • You must take reasonable care of the goods while they are in your possession. 
  • Goods must be returned with all accessories, instructions, etc. and must be suitably packed. 
  • CDs, DVDs or software will only be accepted if the seal or packaging is intact. 
  • Proof of purchase must be supplied. 
  • You must return free gifts supplied with the product. 
  • We will not refund items that have been customised, personalised or specially made to your specification. 
  • If an item is returned incomplete or not in good condition, we will decline to refund or reduce the amount refunded enough to reflect a lower resale value. 
  • For orders delivered within the UK/EU, we will refund the standard postage charge (i.e. not Express or Saturday delivery). 
  • If you decline to accept delivery of an order dispatched to you, we will reduce the amount refunded enough to reflect the cost of recovering the package/s. 
  • We will not refund postage for items delivered outside the UK/EU. 

Where a warranty return or complaint is justified, we will arrange collection. Otherwise, you will bear the direct cost of returning the goods. 

Please only return goods after first contacting us. We will respond to your individual circumstances wherever possible. If a fault occurs after 30 days but within the manufacturer's warranty period, we will offer you a repair, exchange or refund, depending on the circumstances. To arrange for the return of your goods, please contact First Light Optics Ltd by email to questions@firstlightoptics.com 

Goods to be returned should be sent to: First Light Optics Ltd, Unit 7 Budlake Units, Budlake Road, Marsh Barton Trading Estate, Exeter, Devon, EX2 8PY.

Please keep the box & packaging. We do not insist on this, but we know from experience how difficult it is to safely ship a telescope or mount without its original box and packaging, so please do not discard them. At least for one month. Thank-you :-) 

Note regarding binocular optical alignment: Binoculars are very reliable products. If a binocular is delivered with optics correctly aligned (collimated), it will remain that way for many years unless it receives an impact. All our Binoculars are covered for manufacturing faults for a minimum of two years, but optical misalignment resulting from impact is not covered, so we strongly recommend you check for this within fourteen days of receiving the binoculars. After fourteen days, we will not replace or refund a binocular for optical misalignment, but we will happily quote for and then arrange a repair. 

This does not affect your statutory rights.

Minimum Two-Year Warranty

Items purchased at FLO are covered by a minimum two-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. What does that mean? It means if the manufacturer/distributor offers only a one-year warranty, we will increase it to two years. Free of charge. And of course, if the manufacturer offers longer, you will be covered by that. So all gain and no loss. Warranties are non-transferable and apply to the original purchaser only.

Personal Information

First Light Optics will only disclose information to third parties for goods delivery purposes or, if necessary when handling warranty claims. We do not sell, rent or loan customer email addresses or contact details to any other party. We may send occasional notices relating to our products or services, but only to subscribers. You can unsubscribe anytime by clicking on the 'Unsubscribe' link at the bottom of the emails or via your account settings page.
