About this product
Model: peg_uranus2
Part Number: PEG-URANUS
This pocket-sized device provides useful real-time environmental data for astronomers and astro-photographers.
Using integrated digital sensors, the Uranus Meteo Station continuously checks ambient temperature, humidity, pressure, cloud height, cloud coverage and night sky brightness, then displays the results via an easy to ready red LCD display.
It also features an internal GPS receiver that provides precise time & date, latitude and longitude, altitude, time of astronomical dawn and twilight at your location. And a CMOS sensor to measure sky brightness.
Digital Environmental Sensors
Uranus Meteo Sensor “talks” every second (configurable time interval) with a network of embedded sensors and reports the following information via the LCD screen.
- Ambient Temperature (°C or °F)
- Relative Humidity %
- Dew Point (°C or °F)
- Absolute Atmospheric Pressure – Sea Level Pressure (hPa)
- Relative Atmospheric Pressure (hPa)
- Barometric and GPS (precise) Altitude (m or ft.)
- Cloud Coverage % (Cloud Index)
- Cloud Temperature
- Cloud Height
Digital Operation
Fully digital operation with a red film display makes control of the device quick and simple. A couple of push-buttons on top enable you to slide from screen to screen to read different sensor metrics.
GPS Location
Features an internal GPS receiver able to report:
- Accurate GPS Date and Time
- Latitude & Longitude
- Speed & Bearing
- Altitude
- Helps calculate the exact astronomical dawn and twilight time of your location
Visual Sky Brightness
The Uranus Meteo Sensor can also measure Visual Sky Brightness (MPSAS, NELM and Bortle Scale).
The highly sensitive sensor measures the sky at a 30° angle (simply hold the button for more than a second) and can display the reading as magnitudes per arc second², visual mags or lux.
Can be used to compare sky brightness at different sites or to document light pollution in your area.
Additional calculations
- Moon Phases
- Astronomical Sunrise & Twilight Time based on GPS coords
Other Key Features
Memory Banks:
The device has an internal memory able to store up to 1000 records. Each record includes all sensor data and GPS coordinates. The software enables you, via USB, to view and export all of the data to
Unity Platform maps, keeping historic records of visited places.
Hand Held or PC
It is a handheld device that can also be plugged via a USB2 cable into your PC or Laptop. The enclosure also has 2 x 3 mm holes at the bottom for fitting it your telescope or in your observatory.
GPS Port
GPS port allows you to output full GPS NMEA messages to a serial device. The pinout is compatible with 10Micron mounts.
Rechargeable Battery
The device has a NiMH rechargeable (through USB-C port) battery pack.
ASCOM 6
Uranus Meteo Sensor fully supports ASCOM 6 Observing Conditions. Metrics can be easily displayed to imaging software such as SGPro on NINA.

Pegasus Uranus Metro sensor 27 October 2022 | Jonathon
I love my Astro Gadgets and when I saw this compact handheld item appear from Pegasus Astro I pre-ordered it. I recieved this item a week ago and have been testing it with well not clear skies. Opening the box you get a manufacturers product leaflet the pocket-size Metro box and a USB cable. Note there are no instructions included or any quick link to get then. Not a issue as if you go onto the manufacturers website and this product all can be downloaded.
This item is small compact including a GPS reciever and has a light weight blue aircraft aluminium shell that compliments the Pegasus range.
Don't let the size of this item put you off, it is loaded with high tech sensors and yes they are very accurate. I know they are accurate because I have other kit to compliment the readings and bought this item as a portable unit. Beware though, the item with its rechargeable triple A battery back has a deep sleep mode and you may not be able to turn it on. Without at least a 5 min delay from the press of one of two push buttons the unit has. Read fully the instructions and download the manufacturers Unity software. When connected with the supplied cable you get a fantastic graphical representation of your night sky conditions.
All the data you need. I must say an ideal Christmas gift. I bought this for myself and love it . A very clever accurate piece of kit.
