Expensive but Solid
30 October 2023  |

To sum it up, this is expensive, but absolutely 💯 flawless quality. I have the Sky-Watcher staradventurer pro, and the wedge for that was rubbish, I'd had to cut out cardboard to stop it wobbling for God sake! Ha. This item is however beautifully crafted and doesn't wobble an inch. It really is night and day in terms of quality comparison between the two. It's expensive yes - but damn, it's well made!

A worthy investment if you want something you can confidently rely upon!
12 March 2023  |

Following various online reviews I decided to purchase this Wedge.... and the moment I received it I knew it was the right choice. It is beautifully crafted and engineered and the whole thing is built to last.. It is heavier but the gears and screws are solid and well made so I know it will hold my equipment and I will be able to make fine adjustments confidently. It is miles ahead of the wedge that comes with the Sky Guider Pro and will definitely serve me well for many years to come and with other future expansions. It's not cheap but if you can afford it then it's worth the investment in the long run and will save you a lot of frustration and give you more time to focus on capturing the night skies.

Quality Kit
01 August 2022  |

As soon as I opened the box I could tell that the William Optics wedge is a quality product.
The weight surprised me, as it is heavy and very solidly made.
In operation this is a vast improvement over the Star Adventurer wedge.
Overall fantastic prodyct

What a difference
02 March 2022  |

I recently bought the WO Wedge from FLO as an upgrade to my Skywatcher one used on the Star Adventurer, what a difference it makes, it is rock solid, easy to use and setup whilst polar aligning, Super fast delivery from FLO again.

A Game Changer
21 December 2021  |

Its all been said before but this must be the best upgrade for the Star Adventurer. Quick, easy and precise polar alignment compared to the Skywatcher wedge. Especially for altitude.
First class service from FLO.

Great, but pricey, replacement
10 November 2021  |

Have not yet used this "in anger" however I have used it indoors as I got accustomed to it and was able to compare with the stock wedge that came with the Skyguider Pro. It is much more solidly built and feels reassuringly heavy. The controls seem to be more true than the iOptron equivalent; more finesse in the adjustment, once I got used to how they operate. Comfortably holds a Nikon D750 and Sigma 150-600 lens, sitting on a Manfrotto CF tripod. Very well machined, great controls. On the downside of this sturdiness is of course the extra weight, but swings and roundabouts. Certainly going to make my carryon luggage more of a challenge! A star off for me though, purely down to the price. Whilst it also comes with the extender for counterweights, I still think this is a lot of money for what it is.

William Optics Wedge
21 September 2021  |

When the postman handed me the box containing the WO wedge I knew from the weight that it was a serious piece of kit and it didn't disappoint when I opened the box. It is heavy, well made and orders of magnitude better than the original SW wedge. I intend to use it for my SW Star Adventurer and to convert my SW AZ GTi from AZ to Eq mode. Graham.

Best by far
09 September 2021  |

Not going to lie, this is exspensive. I upgraded to this after having bought the Skywatcher wedge in the interim as I couldn't afford this at the time. It's an absolute beast of a wedge, it took a little bit to get use too over the other wedges, but the finite adjustments you can do makes it worth it.

William Optics Wedge for iOptron Skyguider Pro & Skywatcher Star Adventurer
18 August 2021  |

I bought this equatorial base because it was not available in Italy and the waiting times were quite long. The package arrived in a few days and I paid the import taxes through the courier (DHL). I saved little (five euros compared to Italian retailers) but the delivery was quick. The price of this wedge is undoubtedly high but you get what you pay for. The difference compared to the original Skywatcher piece (which is the only drawback of the star adventurer) is stratospheric, the polar alignment becomes easy, precise and quick. If you take everything to the top of a mountain this is the most advisable route. Once you have tried William Optics' equatorial base it is impossible for you to go back.
