All good

My first time using a guide scope, it's well made and came to focus nice and easy using an asi290 with nose piece. All good 👌

good mini scope

Used in connection with my ZWO 120mm mini guide camera. Feels well made, simply twist the tube to increase/decrease focus length.

Excellent image quality- not so sure about the focus mechanism !
16 March 2022  |

This scope feels solid and well-made and I was impressed with the image quality for the price. I tested it both for use as a guide scope with a camera (mono) and optically. The field is actually impressively flat with only minor distortions towards the field edge. However I do feel a little disappointed by the rigmarole required to focus the scope. I found that an awkward combination of three methods was required; moving the guide camera up and down the tube to get approximate focus, then a kind of shuffle of loosening the objective lens and then turning the focus wheel to 'take up the slack created' by this action. Maybe I was doing it wrong but this just seems overly fussy when they could just use an integrated helical focuser. C'mon ZWO, cheap as chips monoculars use a proper focus mechanism, would it really break the bank to employ one here?

Granted however most people will focus once and not have to touch focus again if the scope is only employed in one system doing one job, so I only dropped one star for this slight annoyance ! Other than that a lovely wee scope, well packed and delivered across the country within hours from FLO.

Nice quality for price
12 July 2021  |

Was pleasantly surprised when this turned up. It's perfect for a compact wide-field rig and feels really good quality.
It hasn't had first light yet but I get the feeling it is going to be much easier to focus than my other guide-scopes as it has a focuser. Can't be beaten for the price in my opinion.

Very good little product
15 January 2021  |

There are not many items in astrophotography that are cheap, effective and good to look at, but this is. Its well made, simple to use, works really well and for small focal length systems, I am not going to bother looking at anything else from now on. Even my old trusty ST80 has been put on the shelf. An ASI120 fitted straight on, it was easy to focus and holds focus well from the outings it has had, and because it is so small, it just makes guiding that much less of a hassle. Highly recommended and will buy another without worrying a jot for any other shortish FL system.

Nice scope but supplied thumbscrews are incorrect size
18 December 2020  |

Guide scope works well with the ZWO ASI 120 mini camera. However, the thumbscrews supplied with the guide scope were far too big and don't fit into the holes provided. I had to borrow the correct 2mm screws from a friends Celestron just to try it out.

Hi Derek, please contact us and we will supply replacements :-)

Fantastic little guide scope
04 November 2019  |

Tried this for the first time with a ZWO ASI290MM. Makes a perfect paring with the SpaceCat 51, (or RedCat 51) once camera installed and focus achieved, there's a locking right that holds focus, so between sessions there's no problems with focus getting lost. It's small light, and was easily able to pick up stars for guiding. It's a great piece of kit for any astro photographer.

Small but good
12 March 2019  |

Not yet tried this small guidescope, but I am quite confident it will do a good job. What it has done for me, is lighten the load on my mount. Balance is now very easy to create, and that is so important. I'm sure my lodestar guide cam. will be a good partner for the little fellow, and I envisage no problems at all.
