R-Sky Observing Vest

R-Sky customers asked them to make a version of the Observing Hood combined with a vest.

But this is more than simply a vest with a large hood. It is a multi-functional vest with several pockets that enable you to carry a red flashlight and pencils, a variety of eyepieces of different sizes, filters, smartphones and tablet sizes up to an iPad Pro 10.5".

The Observing Hood (“Monk” style) is a necessary accessory for visual astronomy because it prevents stray light (i.e. from a nearby street light or neighbour's window) from spoiling the view.

Features include:

It enables you to keep both eyes open. This is a useful feature because when looking through the eyepiece of a telescope, you usually close your 'unused' eye, which makes observing uncomfortable. With this hood, you can keep both eyes open because its large size shields you from extraneous light, creating the effect of being fully immersed in outer space. This is especially noticeable when using a pair of wide-angle eyepieces.

It can be put on quickly and easily, even in the dark, and thanks to its three positional shutter buttons, the hood fits any neck size. R-Sky has also taken the observer's seasonal clothing changes into account. The run of the shutters will be sufficient even when you're wearing winter clothing.
When the observing hood is not in use (while taking a break from your observations), you push the hood back by pulling on the top part.
