About this product
Part Number: 0510360
The Explore Scientific 3" 0.7x Reducer / Corrector reduces the effective focal length of a particular instrument by the factor 0.7x (for f/8) and 0.8x (for f/10) respectively. The reducer/corrector not only reduces the focal length but also operates as a very effective field flattener.
Although originally developed for the Explore Scientific ED-APOs 127mm and 152mm, the reducer can be used with many systems, including the new Meade ACF f/8 systems.
This reducer/corrector comes with 3" barrel and adaptors for Nikon and Canon DSLRs. Maximum free optical aperture is measured at 65mm.
To fit to standard Explore Scientific Triplet Apos simply unscrew the eyepiece holder on the telescope from the main focuser tube. The supplied ES Flattener/Reducer adapter ring then screws on to the exposed ring.
This Reducer Corrector is ideal for large format cameras and imager sensors. Vignetting is exceptionally well-controlled, due to its large aperture.
Back focus distance required:
- 55mm with the Canon T2 Adapter
- 78.5mm with the Nikon T2 Adapter
Please note: Explore Scientific refractors fitted with the newer 2.5" Hexfocus/Hexafoc focuser will require the additional Explore Scientific Hexafoc 2.5" Adapter for 3" Corrector to fit to their focusers.
|Average Rating (1 Review): |Good solid, and flat to the edges.

I got this to replace my compression fit reducer on my ED127. I am using it with an ASI1600MM camera. With a back focus of exactly 55mm I can get an almost perfectly flat field. I may add a .1mm shim to make perfect, but honestly you would have to worry about maybe a pixel of elongation without.
